Seriouslyfrugal you get an extra star with so many posts.

Not quite sure what the increments are though.
Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
    And we were young.

That Grand Ol' Man of feline land
For one last time has licked your hand

For all his life, you've done your best
But now, at last, it's time for rest

Your heart is heavy, filled with sorrow
To know he won't be here tomorrow

But though today seems dark and grim
Think of the life you made for him!

Those kitten days when he was small
And huddled in a tiny ball

He grew and grew and fancy that
At last he was a proper cat!

At night he had his games and fun
And talk about the things he'd done! ;)

He lived a life of joy and glee
Oh yes! A proper cat was he

At times you'll sob, I'd even bet
Some "friends" might say - he's just a pet

But true friends know that he was more
    The loving fella you'd adore

So look at photos of your man
Think of good times, as best you can

For though you're feeling such despair
Unselfish love, like yours, is rare

It's sad that you have had to part
And sadder still, your breaking heart

Remember - through your grief and strife
You gave your cat a "purr-fect" life

    xx
  • Everybody who has lost a pet knows the agony and pain, and when you have to take them to the vet for the last time, the grief is unbearable. The first time I had to have a dog put down, I drove home and sat in the car, crying my eyes out, because I felt so bad.

Then a neighbour came along, the sort everyone would cross the road to avoid, and asked why I was crying, so I told her where I'd been, and what I'd had to do.

I'll never forget her words. She said "So you've chosen to suffer so that your pet didn't have to. How brave are you".

    Take care chickens.

    xx

  • PIC - so sorry to hear your sad news, but from what the vet said it was the kindest thing to do. It's a horrible thing to have to do, we had to have our cat put down the day after I bought my oldest son home from hospital. He had throat cancer and couldn't eat and breathing was becoming difficult becuase of where the tumour was. I felt like I had bought my baby home and was getting rid of the cat it was awful but they couldn't operate and he had got so thin and incoherant.

I have had a day of cleaning inside and out today making the most of the sunshine. Also went to Mr T's and got a few bits and bobs, nothing exciting. Going to have a day of baking tomorrow, scones, apple pies, crumble, buns, cake I think.

We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment
