My suitcase cake - see post no. 17 on this thread - was easy. It was for someone leaving for America but change the flag and luggage label and add a kangaroo if you want to and it would be "bonzo" as they say in Oz! :rotfl:0 -

Hi. All you need to make cake pops is cake, buttercream and candy melts. Crumble up cold cake, and mix with buttercream so it feels like playdoh. Shape and chill overnight, them cover in candy melts, or baking chocolate. Simples
Hi, I find lots of buttercream recipes *very* sickly. I use 250g butter to 500g sifted icing sugar, 1 tsp good quality vanilla and a splash of milk. 1 tbsp if you like it thicker, 2 tbsp for thinner buttercream.
Thanks Annie ,
that worked a treat no where near as greasey and sickly as the pure buttercream recipes ! :jcan you recommend any other icing recipes for cupcakes / cakes, many thanks.0 -

That's pretty much my staple for all cakes, sometimes different flavours or colours, but the same basic recipe. Ganache is nice for covering cakes. Equal amounts of melted chocolate and cream, whisked together. If it goes lumpy, the cream is too cold, it should be smooth and glossy.0 -
