I did 12in fruitcake, 10in chocolate fudge, 8in madiera and 6in fruit. We're keeping the 6in cake for our first anniversary, the rest was cut and all the madiera and chocolate cake got eaten although there is quite a bit of fruit cake left over, have been eating it breakfast lunch and dinner for the last few days :rotfl:

Perhaps I should have made the fruit cake smaller, but it is traditional! And personally I don't understand why people aren't so fond of it :o

Lots of inspiration from you guys as always, I wonder what I'll be making next...

Hi everyone, I have to ice a light fruit cake with fondant, do I need to use anything before putting the fondant on? Obviously with a dark fruit cake I would use marzipan too?
    TIA x

Hi Awesome I've not been taught as such, I've just picked it up as I've gone along. I fiddle with the fondant as if its playdough till I'm happy with it, must say tho the last cake with Peppa,George etc took a full day to do but I'm not sure if that's cos I wasn't really in the mood and things always seem to take longer!
