the icing didnt come out as red as id have liked,it seemed the more food colouring i put in the stickier the icing went and i used a whole box of icing sugar just to stop it sticking to the work top.any tips?
I've given up buying normal red food colouring - paste, liquid or gel - I only buy Red Extra colour paste. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sugarflair-Spectral-Concentrated-Paste-Colouring/dp/B009BQNJ3Y/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1350580451&sr=8-2 You only need the tiniest amount for pinks, but you can get red icing much easier with much less so the icing doesn't go sticky. You can also get Black Extra and Green Extra - I've found both very useful!
However, I do like the pink that cochineal makes - it's much more like "Barbie" pink than others, but I don't seem to be able to find it anymore. Has anyone seen any? Or can anyone recommend a paste pink that's more of a Barbie pink?0 -
