Bindiboo, love the Angelina, she is so adorable!
Carlymummy, love the cake, it is gorgeous!
Amazing cakes Jetsetgem, really like the castle!
Nat, giant cupcake gorgeous as always!
Hoping some of the regulars can help me. As you know Ive been making cakes for a little while, and not been too bad at it, if I do say so myself!! :rotfl: Anyway, I'm making a really big cake next week, a cruise ship deck, and its gonna be difficult to say the least, but I'm looking forward to the challenge!
The biggest problem I have got is that I am sooooooo busy over the weekend and early next week, and its due to be picked up Wednesday. The cakes are already baked and in the freezer, so they're not a problem. I am thinking at Saturday being able to sugarpaste it, as it is the only significant chunk of time I am going to get to do it. Is this too early to cover?? Will the sugarpaste dry out?? How can I stop it from drying out?? I've never had to do a cake so many days in advance before, so I'm really worrying about it! If someone can help I would appreciate itYou're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0 -

Hi I did a birthday cake to take to my friend (two hour drive), I took it through to them on the Friday and we ate it on Saturday - I crumb coated/sugarpasted it on the Tuesday and put all the decorations on it on Wednesday, I kept it in the fridge at all times and it was fine. I only make cakes as a hobby so not sure it what I did was correct maybe I was just lucky0 -
Moosetastic saturday will be fine. i always refer to lindy smith site as seems to be cake guru and she says allow a week to decorate. good luck, look forward to those pics.:wall:Trying to get a grip :think:0

Wow where have I been I've missed loads. Loving all your creations now I'm gonna try and not leave anybody out.
Nat what can I say your cakes are fab, they are so very professional you should be very proud of yourself:) I just adored the simplicity of the wedding cake and up to now have not been over keen on giant cupcakes but you might well have changed my mind:)
Bindi wow what a change from your usual style but still amazing. How cute is your Angelina! Bet your niece was thrilled.
Now there was jetsetgem too, littlebit and carlymummy. Superstars I just loved the lions expression littlebit and jetsetgem what amazing cakes very inspiring. Carlymummy your christening cake was gorgeous, do you use florist paste for your lettering it's much easier than fondant in the tappit lettering. I know I've missed somebody, I'm popping back to check. Ooh sorry Irishminx what a really lovely cake I see One Direction are flavour of the month at the mo:)The secret of Christmas

Thanks
:j
Hiya!
Yes, I worked from bottom to top. I always use a Wilton 2D tip for my roses but that's just preference, a 1M will work just as well xxx0 -
Hi all, I was just after a bit of advice and wondered if someone here could help. I want to buy some milk chocolate cigarillos (or cigarellos) for a birthday in September and figure I need to order about 100 to cover a 9" cake taking into account any possible breakages.
The thing is, I've never ordered them before, and I don't have a clue as to which are the best and which are "cheap" chocolate. I want them to taste nice as well as not be crazy expensive, but chocolate varies so much from Cadbury's quality to vile tasting! Any ideas please?Optima semper libera sunt

Hi heanlo I've never used them myself cos they are so pricey but would love to
Had a quick look on Squires site looks you'd need a 700g pack which is £27.50 HTH
Generally tho if you ring a supplier they are usually really knowledgable and happy to help. Unless one of the lovelies pops in with more advice:)
Think the nearest i will get I'll b using chocolate fingers or maybe matchmakers. HaThe secret of Christmas
