Hiya Gloria you can get a card board if that makes sense the same size as the base of your second tier. It's stiffened card with a food safe coating and costs pennies, that will sit on top of the dowels:) HTHThe secret of Christmas

Wow!
What fab cakes! i made a few (78) for my husbands birthday get together, got lovely comments, and one order! Wasn't thinking of doing this for earnings, but well, that is definitely now a plan.
So, I have had a look at a website to get my food hygiene certificate online, what else would you ladies recommend I get to be legal?
Thanks in advance.

Well icemice I love it. It looks fab there are loads of cushions etc about using a similar flag design. Don't be so hard on yourself:) Are you addicted now? How have you got the Olympic rings so neat? X
Thanks Nanamia - I used two glasses to cut the rings and printed off a pic to make sure I cut the bits out in the right places. I let them dry a bit before I put them on the cake to try and stop the colour running as I knew I had just one chance at getting them on without staining the white. Apparently, it made it to London intact and some went to the opening ceremony - the closest link that I have to being there myself! Lol! :rotfl:0 -
another birthday cake... the usual egg free, fresh cream fresh fruit number0
