Wow Nat and Kevin, absolutely splendid cakes there, thanks for the recipes Kevin, i never seem to make anything other than vanilla or chocolate so its nice to see that it is easy to make differences :D

scottishf, to add images, when you go to imageshack, photobucket etc it should give you several links you can copy and paste. you need the one with
You're so very special, I wish I was special

Wow, Kevin and scottishf, your creations look amazing! Now I'm happy with my cake tastes and textures, maybe I should think about getting the appearance more professional-looking. The only thing that puts me off is all that sugar, it's not good for me....

Here are the vintage cupcakes I've made for my mums birthday tomorrow - vanilla cupcakes, lilac vanilla icing, with rice paper hearts and butterflies, with white shimmer pearls

Thanks so much Nanamia, I really hope my mum likes them! I wanted to start making my cakes look better so tried the staging for the first time tonight. Got some satin material coming to make it even better in the future, but think these look great for my first attempt :D

Kevin, Moose and Scottishf - fantastic cakes!

I used a 1A tip for the giant cupcake, its just a big hole in the top!

Football top cake baked, ready for icing in the morning :/

Ok cake made for creating Mater for DD's 5th birthday party - day after her birthday. Have just made my first giant cupcake for her actual birthday, think I can manage piping the top part can I ask please what do people do to decorate the bottom section??
Also, invested in some trex to make the butter icing, know some of you use half trex and half marg/butter and seem to remember someone saying they don't use as much icing sugar as fat - what proportions do you use please?? I usually do double amount of icing sugar to fat.

Sorry for all the questions!!

Hi bobbis mummy,

I use half Trex and half butter and a bit less icing sugar than you.

For 12 cupcakes I will use roughly (depending on the style of piping sometimes I can get more!) 500g icing sugar, 167g Trex and 167g butter.

I'd always use real unsalted bitter for this and not marg as I think Mary might make it too soft. I use stork for making the cake though :)
