    Hi everyone. :j

Fabulous wedding cake Nat - love those colours. :)

Beautiful giant cupcake too Moosetastic - I was reading a tutorial on how to make a candy melts shell earlier - was tempted to try it for a cake I have to make for Thursday but on second thoughts I might just use chocolate fingers instead. ;)

Has anyone any idea how many chocolate fingers I will need for one cake? I don't want to be left with loads afterwards or I'll just eat them and I am trying to be good. :rotfl:

I did this one for valentines day for my hubby and from what I remember it was nearly 4 boxes. I would imagine if it's a giant cupcake it wou be less as just a straight forward round?

Evening all. Makeyourmummyproud, it wasnt me awaiting the visit from the council, think that was Moosetastic. I cant see me going down that route, takes me hours and hours to do a cake, I would bankrupt myself!
Moosetastic - love that giant cupcake. I brought the mould last week and itching to try it out. They had a section in this weeks cake decorating mag on covering the bottom in sugarpaste - no state secrets, just turn it upside down then use ball tool to push it into the indents was pretty much the gist of it.
Nat delicious looking wedding cake, great pink. I also use trex for rolling, did on the one about to post though some bits got over sticky so if needed some powder, used cornflour as no taste but so much easier to brush off.
Here is this weeks effort, looks straightforward but lots of firsts for me - first time had to shape a cake, first time had to stick 2 together and first use of fantastic sugarcraft gun which is my new favourite toy:D

Hi all, fantastic cakes as always. I wondered if one of you has a tried and tested egg and dairy free cake recipe? Thanks

I popped into Aldi yesterday and picked up the orange sunflower baking pan (about 12" diameter) for £1.99 (reduced from £3.49). My reasoning being if the cake looks pretty, I won't be inclined to ice it, ergo a healthy cake. Can't wait to get baking but will wait until next weekend - otherwise am guaranteed to demolish the lot without assistance. Orange and almond sponge I think :).

Just to add I gave my new sunflower mould ^^^^ a test run with an orange and almond cake ready for the weekend, result below.

Not a patch on the creativity on display on this thread but I thought I'd show you the result in case anyone wanted to invest in patterned silicone bakeware. I erred on the side of caution and used a 8oz/4 egg mixture but the mould could have take at least a 12oz mixture.

I didn't want to hijack this thread with my troubles but if anyone has any cakemaking rather than decorating pointers could you have a look at post #144 on this thread? TIA
