Hiya ladies! I'm very sorry I wasn't able to keep in touch asap shegirl and nat82. I was ill these past few days.
shegirl: I usually get my cakeboard from ASDA for 67p but I wanna buy it in bulk cos it will be cheaper that way and I'll be needing different shapes like square and rectangle. Thank you anyway. x
nat82: Thank you very much that was a great help. x0 -

I brought them from here Silicone Moulds they are £38 + shipping for the letters and £15 for the numbers bit expensive to start with but like everything once you have them you have got them and as they are silicone they last for ages. You can buy them in singles if you want specific letters or numbers but does work out more expensive that way.0 -
Hiya!
Has anyone ever made the Good Food Light Fruit Cake?
I've never made fruit cake before but wanted to give this a try in preparation for a wedding cake I'm doing later on in the year. Should I feed it with alcohol? If so, what type? How much? And over what length of time? I'm planning a practice run next week. Also, does fruit cake taste better if made in advance? I know you can make it much sooner than a sponge cake but wondered if this altered the taste any.
Many thanks!0 -
nannyto9 thank you so much.
not bad compared to 8 sets of cake tins that I bought last week. It arrived yesterday and quite pleased about it considering that it cost me 131 quid
Agggh! My problem now is where to keep it...

Hello nat! Never tried the Good Food one but usually I soak the dried fruits in a bowl with a cup of tea over night before I bake it the next day. (that will make your fruit cake really moist!)
I feed sherry to my cake once a week. The cake woud last for a month. The longer, the better cos the cake will mature and will really taste yum!
Hope it helps. Good luck! x0 -
Thanks makeyourmummyproud! How much should I feed it and how do I do it? I remember my grandma soaking her dried fruit in tea when she made fruit loaf! How should I store it in between feeding it? X0

Ahh! Can't remember how much they were as I ended up getting a thicker board for ds cake earlier but there are loads of cake 'cards' etc on https://www.cakedecoratingstore.co.uk no idea if the prices are any good but they were the cheapest for white chocolate regalice (I cheated and went with that due to the amount buying the cocoform would cost in addition to the sugarpaste -cocoform started from £4.99 for 150g:eek: when you're doing a 3 tier cake that'll work out quite a bit!!!) and I quite like the site
Hope you're feeling better nowIf women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
