26g is really thin, the higher the number, the thinner the wire so I'd go for something thicker. I was taught to make them a day in advance. Dip the end of the wire in some water and push about half way into the decoration. I use sugarpaste with some CMC powder added to harden.
I made these decorations this way:
hi can I ask which cutters you have used for the lettering?0 -
Hi Cornishlady, they are little cases I bought from a seller on ebay called Ineedcake - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/30-POLKA-HOT-PINK-PLEATED-Large-Cupcake-Muffin-Cases-oven-proof-free-standing-/300689170998?pt=Uk_Crafts_Cake_Decorating_MJ&hash=item460278a236 they sell them in small and large, the ones I used are large. I have baked the buns in muffin size cases and then put them inside the spotty ones before decorating them. You can see them better on this pic -
I have bought them from overseas as well, from this seller - http://stores.ebay.co.uk/bid4boy/Muffin-Cases-/_i.html?_fsub=467039319&_sid=939058019&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322
Hi nannyto9, thank you very muchthe little pram isnt fondant, it is a cake topper by Culpitt. The little prams around the side are fondant though

nanamia, the butterflies are made from rice paper and I just got them from ebay - its my favourite place to find little decorations and things that are different, my OH wants to put a ban on it!! lol these are the ones I got http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12-Baby-Pink-Sweet-Flavoured-Edible-Butterfly-Cup-Cake-Decorations-Topper-/170752352712?pt=Uk_Crafts_Cake_Decorating_MJ&hash=item27c1a221c8 but there are lots of different ones on there
bellamonkey, thank you so much! the letters, again, are just a set of cutters from ebay, they were from a seller called bakingfrenzy in malaysia, they take about 2/3 weeks to come http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alphabet-birthday-cookie-cutter-mould-sugar-craft-press-/150797757955?pt=UK_Kitchen_Accessories&hash=item231c3f2e03
they do number ones as well, thats the next thing on my list!! I cut them out of white sugarpaste, and then attached a little pink sugarpaste daisy onto the letters
ps - just seen that bakingfrenzy do the little spotty cases as well!
nannyto9, where did you get your letter and number tins from? I have always been intrigued by them, but they seem so expensive? You're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0 -
