Hi all, I'm fairly new to posting on the forums but have been lurking for a while and reading this thread with great interest.

    **Hello**

I'm making a baby shower cake next week but will be doing a trial run in the next day or so - but the mum-to-be can't really have flour so I'm planning on making a gluten free lemon drizzle cake but without the drizzle - with lemon buttercream icing through the middle instead and then icing and decorating it.

The receipe is on BBC Good Food but as I'm new on here, i can't post the link - sorry!

But I can't find anywhere that sells Dr Oetker Gluten Free Baking Powder - have tried Mr S's & Mr T's but no success.

    Can you help?

    Many thanks
    Gelly

Hi just wondered if anyone had tried embossing? I got Lindy smiths latest book and inspired by that i bought a stencil this week but they are so expensive, the one I really wanted was £25 (couldnt bring myself to spend that much), and its only a thin sheet of plastic. I just wondered if I could use other craft type stencils? Had quick look on ebay and it seems papercraft stencils are much more reasonable. Do you think they would be ok as long as they are washable? Thanks

Quite a few of the standard baking powders are gluten free anyway. See http://www.coeliackids.co.uk/index.php/gluten-free-food-alternatives/64-baking-powder-gluten-free for details.

Not done any myself Gelly, or seen Lindys new book yet however, as a card maker and cake baker I've noticed cake decorating following cake trends. If you only used the stencil for cakes and it's washable then there shouldnt be any problem:)
Bob back in tho let us know how you get on.

I've got a two tier cake to do for Saturday :) Last minute order don't know how I'm going to manage it with my DGD1 and her broken arm!

Thanks for doing the new thread annie!

Can anyone suggest how best to make a cake that is sort of plant pot shaped? I'm hoping to make a special cake for when one of our machines at work closes and one of the main parts is like a big plant pot!!
Bread can be baked in a NEW earthenware flowerpot so why not line a flowerpot with foil and greaseproof paper and bake your cake. You can choose the size you require at your local garden centre. Cut and fill to your desire. Much easier than cutting to shape after baking.:)

Shegirl just a quicky as I'm in the car. I've not used it to cover cakes but know its a 50/50 mix with sugarpaste :) HTH
