Help!
I've been trying to make sone fondant stars on eire however have encountered some problems. I followed an online tutorial which said to just stick the wire into the stars.
However, the stars are coming loose from the wire. Is there any way to attach them or make a glue?
Secondly when I hold up the wire, the weight of the stars are causing the wire the bend right over... How can I solve this? I've got gauge 26 wire. Would I lower gauge help much?
Thanks0 -
Hi Tealeaves
Fondant tends to stick better to (paper wrapped) floral wire than bare wire.
To get stars to stick onto the wire, I roll the fondant to about 1/8th inch thick and cut out the star shapes. Dip the end of the wire into edible glue - you can also use egg white or watered down fondant. then I gently push the glued end into the star and leave for at least a day for the star to dry out.
Hope this helps x0 -

I'm glad this question was asked and answered as want to do a couple for the top of ds birthday cake
I don't decorate much tbh just make cakes for us,only really decorate for birthdays and christmas.Christmas ones the cakes are usually novelty shaped lol Birthday cakes,a few didn't work out too well with the decorating as A.I rushed B.I didn't really have the bits needed and C.My ex is really funny about icing (hates most of it) so always tried to make it likable to him too, which I now regret
The Hogwarts cake I made ds for his 11th birthday didn't come out too badly considering I done it in a day:o :rotfl: and never done anything like it before!
Playing around with decorating more now as ds loves nice looking cakes so always wants me to do something for him!Hence me joining in on here -ideas and tips.
I thoroughly plan on starting ds birthday cake earlier this time, especially as he wants a tiered one!If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

26g is really thin, the higher the number, the thinner the wire so I'd go for something thicker. I was taught to make them a day in advance. Dip the end of the wire in some water and push about half way into the decoration. I use sugarpaste with some CMC powder added to harden.
I made these decorations this way:0
