Once again fab cakes ladies!
Need to ask-how long do edible cake toppers last once made? My daughter made the flowers on her cupcakes below and wants to make more things but doesn't know jow long they will last and are they freezable?
Also she tried making the bun recipe with substituting 1 oz of cornflour instead of self raising but her buns were very heavy.
Here's my girls latest offering.

cherydee what beautiful cakes! Oh that poor little fella. I hope his injuries didn't spoil his party x
Juniee they're lovely. Sugar decorations keep for ages, so don't worry about making them in advance. Just keep them in a cool dry place, in a cardboard box. They'll be fine0 -
Cherrydee hugs to Louie, your cakes are fab what colours did you use for the icing in the cones and can you give the the icing recipe and what nozzle did you use to pipe it( getting hubby to take me to hobbycraft tomorrow)

I used this recipe but substituted cocoa for some of the flour, as I thought the little ones would prefer chocolate cake.
http://www.bakingmad.com/kids/recipes/cupcakes/ice-cream-cone-cupcakes- Noticed vanilla cupcakes is coming up with this link...but down the left hand side is a list of other recipes...choose ice cream cone cupcakes and you will find it. What I found made these successful was piping the mix into the cones...unsure if I was told this here or read it elsewhere, but they filled up nicely from the bottom. Sponge was really nice...13 yr old grandaughter was even eating the ones I rejected that had no buttercream on.
Louie's face looked far worse the night before when my daughter sent me a photo of it on her mobile phone..that really shocked me. If it had n't been nearly midnight and he was fast asleep I would of been straight over to their house.0 -

thanks
Just used a plain buttercream icing, lurpak unsalted and icing sugar and because it was very stiff, added small amount of milk to soften it slightly to pipe more easily.
The colours I used were Squires Professional paste food colour in colours - Gentian and Fuchsia...with the gentian I don't think I put enough of the blue in because they were greeny....a few of them came out two tone because I did not completely mix it in. The rest were plain buttercream...some I added hundreds and thousand like strands to decorate, some crushed flake, some white choc stars, some had glitter on and some pink glimmer sugar. The only 2 wilton nozzles I have are 1M and 2D...almost positive it was 1M as that is more open.0 -
Thanks Cherrydee
