Hi
The only thing I can think of is the oven is set to high, Do you bake it in the centre of the oven and waht number is the oven on? I sounds as if the cale is cookin to quick on the outside which will cause it to crack as it waits for the inside to cook
HTH
Thank you, that's what I thought too. So with another try today, I've got the oven set just below gas mark 2 and the cake is closer to the bottom than it was yesterday - but it's still cracked! At least it's not as bad as it yesterday's and with two cakes there should be more than enough and some cake pops too, lol!"Live each day as if it were your last and garden as though you will live forever"

Hi there- I brought my tins recently and my first attemp at the chocolate fudge cake (a few posts back) was an amazing sucess! I was so chuffed that yesterday I made the good food vanilla cake (also mentioned on here) but I'm not happy wth it at all! Its a very heavy cake despite following the instructions to a T (especially the not over mixing part). Has anyone got a nice cake recipie that they use for a decorated celbration cake (ie iced)? Thanks in advance for letting me pick your fooodie brains!lovin' this site!

tiff - do you follow any cookery or baking blogs? If there's a particular question you wanted to know the answer to, you could always post it in the Comments section after a post - just a thought0 -
I only follow two at the moment but will follow some links and see what I find.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0
