Sorry I can't help with the cooking times, have never even heard of those tins! But I did a google search and some tins seem to come with cooking instructions so perhaps yours will too?

My friend made this cake and she just stacked round ones and carved them and draped the fondant over for the skirt.

Thanks Emms, your friends cake looks fab, can't seem t find any instructions, so going to try a few practice runs x
  • Daniel - i did one of these for my daughter last year, it wasnt as good as the pic above but to get the skirt shape i baked it in a round pirex dish and then put it in the freezer for haf an hour / an hour and then carved it, it was really easy considering i am still a beginner, it was the decorating bit i wasnt the best at. Although the picture at the top seems an easier way to lay the icing than what i did.

Well I've finished my other half's cake for tomorrow. I'm quite pleased with it, even though I had a few incidents with it along the way :)

A friend at work asked me to decorate a cake for her Mum's 80th. She gave me the cake and said she'd marzipanned it but when i unwrapped it she'd only done the top! So I've tried to patch it up but ave had to ice it straight away because she needs it tomorrow so hope it'll be ok. I've only ever done cakes for me so I hope she likes it, i'm no professional!

Thanks, I had to use an "8" and a "o" from a kids cookie cutter set as didn't have anything else. You'd think a 200 piece cookie cutter set would do numbers 0-9 but nope only 1-8 so had to use an "0" and chop a bit out to make it the right size!
