Thanks beds. Yes, they're a big Faff, and expensive to make, but they have a wow factor about them, and they taste nice too
I hope OH's colleagues enjoy them on Monday0 -
Can anyone help? Someone has asked me to make a 7" coffee and walnut cake. I worked out the cost of ingredients which is £5, but i don't know how much to charge her? How much would you pay for a cake like this http://www.reallynicerecipes.com/recipes/cakes_biscuits/coffee-walnut1483.jpg0

Annie, I love the angry birds especially the one on the bottom left.
Adrianna, that's a difficult one, I hope someone can help. Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the ground each morning the devil says, "OH CARP, SHE'S UP"! :whistle:0 -
Im planning this far in ahead, but I think it needs it!
I’m looking at making a cake for my boyfriends 30th this year and as a skiing and snowboarding instructor a mountain cake is required!
I’ve found this pic: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_u4HBRcijsVY/R_q8gQnqCTI/AAAAAAAAAHI/321KwFwsRC8/s320/IMG_2357.JPG which is the best I’ve found and am thinking it would be nice to do a mini version of this.
My issue is I’m pretty nifty with a piping bag (thanks to being a cupcake maker) but have never tried roll out icing!
I’m scared I won’t be able to cover such a big area by myself so am wondering whether I could do it with buttercream instead? (I remember reading that if you use trex instead of butter it stays bright white)
Do you think it would look silly with buttercream, and how would you apply it?
Also I love the log cabin and would make this out of cake too, but not sure how I’d cover it?
And finally, edible trees would be good, but no idea how?
HELP!
Seriously tempted to get someone else to make the damn thing!!! lolGreen and White Barmy Army!0 -

Wow! That's an awesome cake!
Roll out icing is quite easy to use, could you have a few practice goes before attempting the cake? Otherwise I was wondering if royal icing might look like snow?
For the cabin, could you put chocolate slabs on the top and perhaps matchmaker type sticks as the logs. If you make the chocolate shapes for the house yourself, don't temper it and then it'll look more like wood when it gets it's bloom
The tree's are not difficult to make. Make a cone out of gumpaste, push the end of a paintbrush or chopstick up the middle. Then with the curved nail sissors snip all the way round to the top.

I was going to suggest Royal icing too particually as you could get littlE snow peaks and all sorts like the snow going up into a little mound around a skier that's just stopped!
As for the cabin depends on the size but if big enough cadbury fingers?0 -

I need to make a rainbow cake for my nephews birthday. I was thinking about the wilton box of 8 colours, but it says those are for colouring icing? I'm confused, what should I use to colour cake mixture? I would like bright colours rather than muted liquid colouring that you get from tescos et all.July Win: Nokia 58000

Heres the link to my facebook album of pictures of a mini car cake. I went to a class for this and took pics as we went along. I might still have the instructions. Will check.
