  • You can't always. But you can cut a domed cake level before decorating and I usually turn the cake over and use the bottom as the top when icing.

I scoop a little indent in the centre of a sponge mix before it goes in the oven.

Thank you both for the tips :)

Thanks, Bunnygirl, looks like the Artisan it will be.
I've had my artisan for appx 7 years now and I love it as much now as the day I got it. It really is a very very good quality product. I have the pasta roller attachment for it as well which makes homemade pasta a doddle but also great for rolling out sugarpaste!

The Kenwood K Mix has a 500w motor, and comes in loads of colours. Plus it's a lot cheaper that the KitchenAid

Thanks, AnnieH, I'm keeping my options open. Love the cake pops, too.

I'd be interested to know, too, as I've got one, but it was second hand and I don't have the instructions. Looked at the Alan Silverwood website, but nothing :(

Thank you. It's so easy to make, and everybody seems to like it :)

Ugh. No! They're a nightmare. I made the red birds earlier today and they are so beyond c.r.ap. that I had to eat them, cos there's no way I'm giving them away to real people! :rotfl:
