Lovely cakes, Julie. Enjoy your Artisan, Wifey. I'm a bit jealous :)

    Ladies I need your help!

I’m hoping to make a cake similar to this: http://www.janeasher.com/couture_images/chocmaltesers.jpg for my friends birthday, but wanted to check a few things with you guys!

I’m only doing one teir, so I imagine if I do a normal chocolate sponge with chocolate buttercream filling. Then cover the outside in chocolate buttercream so that the chocolate fingers and malteasers will stick, right?

Can anyone recommend a good seller of cake wire too as I’d like to add some malteasers on wires like in the pic?

    HELP!

There'll be far more experienced cake makers than me along soon but these I found on Ebay when browsing, perhaps a note sent to the seller may help as I have no idea about the gauge of wires

Yes I have done this before and they stick just fine to the buttercream :)

Thanks, becs, I've got a lot to learn with it so I'm going to start off by mixing up my favourite basic recipes first and then take baby steps with it. :D I'm chuffed to bits. I got mine from Wheesh who were really helpful. It arrives on Monday.

Julie, the fairy castle is gorgeous and I bet your little one didn't notice anything out of place.

Did you get the kitchenaid mixer cookbook with it? I's brilliant, full of loads of great recipes that show you what attachments to use and how to use them. If you have an ipod, iphone or ipad you can download it free from itunes.

Brilliant Annie, youhave way more patience than me! I got half way through trying to make even basic cake pops and threw the whole lot in the bin! Way too faffy, and it must cost a small fortune to make such a tiny thing.
