Looks like there's a bug and it will only accept your primary first registered phone number as the username. I've reported the problem to 1899. Got an e-mail back right away asking for further info so they can look into it. They said it supposed to work with any of your registered numbers as a VoIP username.

As soon as I hear more from them I'll let you know.

Only option for now would be start a new 1899 account, registering your Sipgate number.

I've now set up Firefly for outgoing using 1899 VoIP and X-ten for incoming using Sipgate.

Configuration of the X-ten for Sipgate is here but you have to be signed up and logged in to access the link.

The USB handset I'm using is the TYN-200 available for £28 from Computer Solutions. Works fine.

Haven't got round to figuring out yet how to configure a second network on Firefly for Sipgate, or a second network on X-ten for 1899 so I can just use the one softphone for both incoming and outgoing. Might have a mess around today but any info the settings would be gratefully received.

If I get time to sort it I'll post back.

Would the TYN-200 handset perform significantly better than my standard headset plugged into my computer's headphone and microphone sockets?

THe main advantage is not having to leave your computer on to recieve calls and not having to use any of the crappy software. ;)

Oh I noticed it's not a SIPphone. For £28 you could probably pick up a cheap SIPphone from somewhere.

I think the prices will come down for these SIP phones, I hope so anyway.

Though I haven't seen any as cheap as £28 yet, not even on eBay and eBid.

As I posted previously I am after a phone that can accept several numbers. I currently have 4 Sipgate numbers and one FWD number and would like a phone at reasonable cost that allows me to enter all of them on one device.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

    I think about £150+

You wait till the SIP mobiles start appearing. Remember you can use SIP over 3g and I thinke ven GPRS. This should mean free worldwide calling on your mobile. If there were municipal wi-fi, it would be completely free worldwide calling too.

I'm sure you can all appreciate why I found the hype about skype so annoying. SIP is open, it is used by a wide range of organisations and can be implemented I'm told easily with many existing technologies due to its simplicity.
Just look at the number of organisations pushing it.

I too never saw the fascination with the Skype hype!

I did try Skype, and still have it on my system, but every one else I know, uses Sipgate, FWD or other VoIP service, so Skype never gets used.
