X-Lite doesn't allow configuration for 1899 IAX service.

3rd party Firefly allows both 1899 IAX and Sipgate SIP.

To add Sipgate numbers in Firefly...............

Thanks for that Bex, saved me some time.

Now got 1899 outbound and Sipgate inbound on Firefly. Good quality both ways.

    Cheers

I see some people are finally starting to experiment abit on the suggestions I made on posts some time ago. It's good that the word is beginning to spread about this.

The only thing that perturbs me in this thread is the reliance on sipgate for SIPphones. There should be plenty of providers in the UK, just search kelkoo and dealtime.

Yes, I am glad people are now getting into VoIP more, I have been using it for awhile now, and only recently decided to join this forum and post, maybe I should have posted sooner, I was busy on the News groups and a couple of other forums.

As for Sipgate, they do seem to be the best so far for a SIP service with a real geographical number.

People who would like a USA number too, could visit http://phone.ipkall.com/ipphone you don't need a FWD unless you want to, you can just point this to your Sipgate number, by entering you SIP ID and sipgate.co.uk in-place of the fwd.pulver.com .

Do you have a list of UK VoIP service suppliers you think are worthy of a mention?

I'm gathering parts to build myself an Asterisk box, should be fun!

Though I had taken a fancy to Sipura SPA-841 phone (2 line phone that can be upgraded to 4 lines), I know there are a few gripes like not being back-lit or problem buttons. It's just finding a reliable low cost EU supplier, as I don't really want to pay import duty from outside the EU.

http://www.voip-info.org has a lot of useful information.

Just think if more people did this, what better reason to expand the reach of cable. I still don't understand why ADSL can't be priced like cable, I guess there are just too many phonelines.

I wish Telewest hadn't forgotten to upgrade our road, a main road at that, last year, with no plans to upgrade the areas they thought they had!

I'd drop my BT line straight away and transfer to cable broadband, unless soon we will be able to ditch the landline yet keep adsl.

You know this service should still work fine on 128k cable, if there even is such a thing anymore. What's the cheapest cable rate in the UK atm? I guess I could just go check the two providers.

I'm now trying to register my sipgate phone number with firefly so that when i make calls thru 1899, they will appear to be from my sipgate number. I have registered the number with 1899, but when I input the sipgate number as my username in firefly (i.e. 1899sipgate#), I get "invalid username for 1899.com network". Any ideas anyone?

    Cheers,
    Rik

Have you put 1899 in front of the number you registered?

    For example, 189901219895555
