The details will be secure, as in no one else other than those using your PC will have access to them. The 3rd party comes from being able to use other providers and not just Firefly.
The benefit of having both, is you may find it more stable. Also as you can only make out going calls with 1899 you only need to run Firefly as and when you make calls.
You can't send a fax with these programs, as these all have "lossy codecs", there is a FoIP codec but at the moment I have only heard these work by was of an asterisk setup. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
the LCD display and buttons on my VOIP handset work with Firefly dialling out on 18990

Hi, can anyone offer some assistance please?
I have set up the VOIP with 1899 and downloaded the new software, but am having problems with the person at the other end hearing me, I am using P.C to landline and a separate microphone and headphones, I have had 4 different mics, one being combined earphones and boom mic,all of them are giving me the same probs, the one I am using now is a clip on mic and is the best up to now, I have used this mic and the people at the other end can hear me sometimes when I am 4-5 feet away from the mic, however most of the time I am told that they either can barely hear me or that the speech keeps breaking up and they are only getting every other word, I can hear every word perfectly in my earphones from them, this has been going on for a few weeks now and I am hoping there is a cure,, I am not that techie and need some easy to follow instructions, can anyone help?Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
fire up soundrecorder and concentrate on getting the mic volume and mic boost right firstOrder of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker0

I solved this problem by using the free Firefly soft phone and configuring it to use 1899's STUN server instead of IAX - it may work for you. Recently I got a USB VOIP phone and that has improved it even more - just like an ordinary phone so long as I am not running any memory hungry program at the same time.0

I also ditched the 1899 VOIP software in favour of Firefly. Works great with no break-up and I've even setup a bluetooth mobile phone headset to allow hands free VOIP (within 10 meters) of the PC at home.0

I have recently got a Vigor2600VG router, which includes 2 phone ports. One I have set up for Sipgate (for a second local number phone line), but free calls via 1899 sounds very nice.
I can't find a way of setting up the port to make outbound calls via a different provider, or even sort it so the second port uses 1889, as they both seem to share a common setup (IE you have to have one provider with two accounts, no option for two providers). Anyone know if I am missing something?
(The setup screen can be seen at the bottom of this page http://www.draytek.co.uk/support/call1899_voip.html if that helps)
TIA..
Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.0 -

Could you give me a guide to setting up Call1899 SIP calling through Firefly, I keep getting 'Couldn't connect to STUN server' as soon as I start it.

i would email draytek, but i dont think its possible to use one provider as incomming and another as outgoing
also 1899 dont offer 0800 numbers so that would be a problem i think0 -

Sorry I can't help right now but I'll be back!
And now I am! I haven't much time to look at this recently but decided I must spend some time playing. It seems so obvious now, not sure why I didn't try it before.
On my SPA-2000, there is a "SIP" tab and at the bottom of that page it allows you to enter a "STUN Server". You need to enter 1899's STUN server in there (stun.1899.com), plus enable the server using the drop-down.
Now I have free calls via my regular DECT handset, awesome!!
cheers,
