I raised a fault through the web site page and they have responded asking me to email to the 1899 voip feedback address. Done that, so lets see if they fix it.

I have done that twice now and had no reply. It seems certain that they have simply decided to pull the plug on the service to anyone whose registered number for the 1899 account is not a landline, eg is a Sipgate number. This is really annoying because I registered a seperate account for the Sipgate number only in order to make sure that the Sipgate number was the one revealed as the caller ID - I use the number for business and I don't want my home number, which I used to register my other account with them, revealed. It is obvious that if I cahnge the main number on my 'home' account from the BT number to the Sipgate number they will disconnect that account as well (without telling me)! This seems really stupid - I thought they wanted to get people to use this service - I was making regular use of it. What do they think they are doing?

I have 1899 and a sipgate number, have just tried it and it still works, however I am still having my original problem that in most cases the recipient can barely hear me but I can hear them fine, someone said it could be my sound card, but the computer supplier says theat as the sound recorder is working it can't be!

There has been a new news group created in the last few days, it is

    uk.telecom.voip

There is a thread just starting on the forbidden/failed calls.

As this news group is new, some providers may not be carrying it, if so contact your ISP and ask if it can be included.

    Hence my post in uk.telecom.voip
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

  • Hi Bex Tech,

I've got 1899 working on firefly but not sipgate. Why is this? does sipgate work with firefly? Also can they both work at the same time with firefly?

    Thanks.

PS I much prefer firefly to x-lite. It's more friendly and looks more appealing.

If you have it working with one, you should have it working with the other, though if you try and run the two programs together using the same log in details, that will cause one not to register.

  • What i meant was that, has anyone sucessfully got firefly setup so that you can recieve incoming calls via sipgate and make outgoing ones on 1899? I.e have both working and set up with one software.
