What? That means my new VOIP router is not gonna be a good buy! What about Voipbuster? (I'm not signed up for it though).

Yep, and my VOIP phone was definitely a bad buy :( 1899 is definitely not working any more. I suppose i can sell it on ebay...!

I don't know what it said before but 1899 have updated their site again stating:

    ----
Good news for our SIP/IAX (and Macintosh) users! We have managed to increase our capacity. Therefore (and in contrary to earlier notices) we will be able to support VoIP calls via alternative SIP/IAX clients.
    ----

So it looks like you should be able to use anything you like (my SPA-2000 is still working fine).

    cheers,
    Richard.

For those that can still use it, the 1899 voip rates as per their website have just altered (p/minute rates):

UK National Calls (land lines) 1
    UK mobiles (sat/sun) 2
    kazakhstan (portable) 4
    germany 0
    albania 5
    tunisia 4
    kuwait 4
    bahrain 9
    armenia 4
    maldives 5

No setup charge shown, but there are now some distinct diffences to the call rates for dialup users.

I have started using 18866 now as it's just 1p per call (UK) even though they state on their VoIP page that all calls are subject to a 2p connection charge (why can't they get their details correct!)

What's odd though is that the number I used for 1899 VoIP isn't being accepted by the 18866 system, even though I have it registered with both systems. All the other numbers work fine. Admittedly it's a VoIP number but is a geographic and working number. Annoying really as I don't want the CLI of the number I had to use to make it work to go through to the caller. Oh well, can't have everything I suppose.

Using 1899 VOIP until they provided a software 'upgrade'.

Now having to put 44 in front of UK numbers but the rate per minute to UK landlne is the same as SKYPE, so no advantage.

I don't use their software, so have no need to dial international format.

Though at the moment, I am using VoIP Buster for free UK calls. Some people on newsgroups are reporting that VoIP Buster cuts you off after 1 minute and announces you need to buy credit, this hasn't happened to me yet.

18866 VoIP service are still only charging 1 pence per call to UK landlines. Well they were when I tested a day or two ago.
