DL Beckenham: vantage, standard monthly £131.25 plus £40 set up fee; subtract £22.50 for racquets, health and fitness only.
Off peak £104.50, plus £40 set up, £82 for racquets, health and fitness only. Off peak for those joining from December = 11-4 weekdays and I didn't bother asking about weekends ...
Above prices for annual contract - no flexible contract available. Small print on the price sheet says the membership lasts indefinitely until 3 months notice is given, one months notice is only ok at the 11 month point.0 -
Essex: I paid a year up front off peak on a cashback credit card. My membership was off-peak and was £825 I think but I did wangle a month free plus extra PT sessions from them. After the year I didn't automatically renew so they sent me some offers and I went for another free month's membership but this time for peak membership and it was £950 - so about £79 a month. Not cheap but I like their facilities.0

Price is in line with my local for platinum, we don't have golf though.
They don't have pick & mix packages unfortunately. It's either off peak, gym & swim, or the full works (whatever's available at your club) in a nutshell.0 -
David Lloyd in Chigwell is a nice venue but very expensive to keep out the rif raf.
Club Platinum £140/person/month. £105 as a couple, tied to a 12 month contract. Access to everything including 10% off food.
Club Plus Individual £95,couple £85. no racquets, steam or spa.
Club Membership £80 restricted access you get to watch others having access. No...not really gym, swim and studios 11am to 4pm mon-fri. 2pm to close weekends.
And don't forget the pointless joining fee of £50...yes per person.
If you can afford it go to Chigwell. It is a lovely place (ex member) Nice staff and if they keep the outside pool warm at night ...FANTASTIC under the stars.0 -
My partner and I went for the 'tour' yesterday at Brighton DL. As he works for NHS we were quoted 'corporate discount prices' on a couples membership:
£57 each for basic membership, includes use of other clubs and I believe it's at any time (although want to double-check this)
£72 each for platinum membership, without corporate discount would be £90. However our club doesn't have racquets and we were told if we wanted to use racquets at nearby clubs we'd have to pay £10!
For comparison, my friend and her partner pay £75 a month for platinum membership at Eastbourne, which includes racquets. They don't have a corporate discount but avoided a sign-up fee by simply refusing to pay on the basis that it was too much. This is making me question the prices quoted to us by Brighton. I understand that it may vary from club to club, but how can they justify a higher rate for a club that has no racquets and no outdoor pool (unlike Eastbourne which has pretty much everything?)
£57 a month did seem quite 'reasonable' by DL standards and certainly when looking at other people's posts on here. I do need to check whether that includes all hours, but is it completely tight of me to also question the overall prices in comparison to Eastbourne? The two areas aren't that far apart, and the 'cheaper' club has much better facilities.0 -
We've just been quoted £250 per month for a family membership...2 adults, 9 year old & 4 year old!!
This is at the Cheadle Cheshire gym0 -
Following our two-week free trial, we decided to sign up for £57/month club plus - everything except racquets, and corporate discount, DL Brighton. We'd already agreed privately that we would not be paying a sign-up fee if asked to, partly on principle and partly because we barely have the money for £114 membership fees, let alone anything else!
Sat down at DL to go over all the paperwork and we were pleasantly surprised to see the sign-up fee box was left blank - just £114 monthly fee (for two of us). Went ahead and signed, gave our bank details to set up a Direct Debit from 1 December (missed the cut-off point for this coming month) and went to the front desk to pay upfront for November. Imagine our surprise when the amount on the card machine was £214... queried this immediately and were told "that's the sign-up fee". We'd been handed copies of our contracts in a folder so opened these and found the agent had added this information AFTER we signed it. We pointed out that we signed the forms based on the £114 figure and have absolutely no additional money, especially not an extra £100. She suggested waiving one fee. We reiterated that we don't have £50. She spoke to her manager who said he could waive one fee and throw in some guest passes. We reiterated AGAIN that we don't have £50 and guest passes will not replenish our bank account.
We've now walked away and unless they change their minds we will be requesting our paperwork back with written confirmation that they've cancelled everything. Not happy that they now have our bank details and signatures. Presumably it isn't legal to write something on a contract after it's been signed? Concerned that we can't really prove that though...0 -
If you have already told them you are cancelling there and then, surely they won't force the contract on you. You should have confirmed with them that the contract is cancelled at that time.
Don't think they will back down from the 1x sign up fee since they already gave you 2 weeks free trial and 1x free sign up fee already. That's way better than most people can get from them.espritlibre87 wrote: »We've now walked away and unless they change their minds we will be requesting our paperwork back with written confirmation that they've cancelled everything.
