Buffy and the H fund..............

Well I am probably too sleepy to write this opening post properly but hey here goes!
I have been here since September 2007, when I started here I had 24,240 pounds worth of debts. well it could have been a little higher then that but I never did really add it up completely:o.
I paid it off fairly slowly, no one in real life knew the extent of my debts and I still had to "keep up appearances" to some degree.
At first the debt didn't go down steadily, I had to pay for a few things along the way. my room, the car, house stuff, family stuff........
However I didn't go on holidays and at first didn't go out much or spend very much on clothes. I have always had a problem with Amazon and Ebay mind you
. I over paid my loan and put the CC on 0%, slowly it worked and in the finish it went quickly. I did get an overpayment back from the SLC which meant i got out of debt a month earlier than I was going to. Getting out of debt not easy but it is certainly doable.
I saved to go to Disneyland and Greece this year which felt great and made my last payment to my loan and Credit card on the 14th of June.
So why am I here? since technically I have no debts and this is the debtfree diaries place...........
Well I have made a lot friends here and I don't especially feel I have a handle on the money thing, I have already splurged on clothes, shoes and tropical fish (:rotfl:I know how to have fun!!) and budgetting remains a mystery (for example is it really spelt with a double t?) I have been in debt since I was 18 years old. Old habits die hard!
Also I have passed my driving test! (on the same day as becoming debt free!)which frankly seems to lead to more expense but is making my life SO much easier. I love but i am still nervous...
In the last year I have been going out more, doing stuff, trying things, I do feel like i have a life occasionally and am seeing loads more of my friends. Even tried speed dating (disaster) internet dating(very odd) and I am mostly accepting every Saturday night invite out. Decided to give up going out on Fridays am too knackered.
I am mainly going to stay here for the H fund
So what is the H fund?
H can stand for either Holiday or House. I have wanted a house for years. My own place, with a huge mortgage admittedly but neverthless, mine, with laminate floors, huge sofas and fish tanks(;)) with a little garden for the guinea pigs. Upstairs I would have a big double bed and huge bathroom...................
or this time next year I will just !!!!!! off on holiday to see my sister and travel for a bit.
I am setting myself big goals every 6 months. So by Christmas I will have the following,
1. 4,000 in savings
2. gone on 3 dates
3. lost 1 stone
4. finished my post grad qualification
5. Fixed up my car
6. Built my fish pond
7. re written my CV
8. Be organised...re paperwork and diary.
Other stuff,
I am single, dislike my main job - mind you this week that could change to some extent. need to lose weight and sleep better.
My biggest problem is organisation, which one of things to seriously tackle in the next six months.
I am so tired. need my bed folks
so hope my friends catch up here soon
Here is to new beginnings.
Love Buffy xx

Hiya Buffy,
subscribing for inspiration & encouragement
.
I do hope that your H also means HAPPINESS FUND,
wishing you lots of it, you've worked so hard & truly deserve a fab & happy life

maybe you need several little pots to put money into in a figurative sense! That way you can get a buzz out of saving for a holiday and a house, and happiness!!!!
Slightly more seriously you are allowed to enjoy some of this money. You have had so much carp going on in your life as well as paying this off

To new beginnings indeed, Buffy! It takes a while to settle into the debt free routines.....especially when other bigger stuff is going on (like getting a life, lol) but it is a fabulous place to be, so well worth making the continued effort!

Hi Buffy!
Going to subscribe as you are an awesome inspiration
you definitely deserve to be happy and to spend some of your pennies on tropical fishies!
Looking forward to the journey ahead! XxxLife is too short not to love what you do.0 -
Hello folks,
so lovely to come back to such kind comments. Thank you xx. I do wish sometimes people in real life could write stuff down and look at it rather than just say it but any how!
I am little late for work but have hoovered, feed Gps, made bed etc so not much to do.
am being observed tomorrow so should be bricking but am not. I am just not getting worked up about it.
Yesterday I sorted out my day zero list and have marked a lot more in progress which is cool. I suddenly realized that I have a day off of sorts on THursday, so will aim to do some paperwork sorting then.
And I did day one of Shred yesterday. OW. and yuck to being "that sweaty"
Other than that little plan I had better get to work.
have a good day everyone
