He is going to Majorca, I would like to thank people for their genuine responses on here however it always saddens me when people hijack a thread for an argument.

Agreed. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. If they want to have a barney at least do it on a non-money related board.

I've just used the search facility on this thread for the word "belt" and to my surprise there were no matches, so just possibly no-one has mentioned your son wearing a money belt?

Tell him to be mega vigilant at the airports. My niece and her b/f have just had their hand luggage stolen at Kuala Lumpur airport - they took their eyes off it for a moment while checking in their hold baggage, and it was gone.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

It's funny that you mention that airport. The first time I used KLCC(same terminal?), I missed my flight and was trying to re-book using my Netbook. I had my hold luggage on a trolley, hand luggage on top and Netbook (open and switched on) on top of that.
Many times I wandered off to the other side of the airport to check my booking status, leaving my open Netbook on top of my luggage.
Came back and it was untouched.
Perhaps things have changed and now there are thieves hanging around.
You have to be vigilant almost everywhere these days. Shame.

Sadly you have to be vigilant most everywhere.

Glad you had a better experience. It only takes one lowlife though - they just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The worst aspect was losing their cameras with irreplaceable three weeks' photos of their grand tour of the far east, but they also lost their phones and one credit card :(. They also missed their flight while sorting it all out with the local police, who were excellent but didn't hold out any hope of them getting their stuff back. This is when you realise the value of travel insurance!
