Sorry i havent been on much this month, kids have been hogging the pc so hopefully when there back at school i will be on here more often. Can i be put down for £280 for Sept pls :D
I will lose 2 stone by this summer!!!!!!
  • I have been lurking on this board for the last couple of weeks and would like to join for September. I will be 25 this September so it feels like time for a fresh start and to really get a grip on our finances.

I would like to go for £600 for me, my OH and our dog.

That probably sounds horrific, but it is for absolutely everything we spend except the mortgage and fixed bills. So food, alcohol, medicine, entertainment, clothing, presents, beauty, homewares, holidays etc. I hope that is allowed??

I think one area we can make big savings is with the food, and if we have just one budget for everything then I know that spending less at Sainsbugs means more money for the other (more fun) stuff.

My September started today with payday, and so far I have spent £1!
September GC: £400.00/£600 (everything except mortgage & bills)

The book is called Lunch Boxes by Jennifer Joyce.I am not really sure where I got it (poss a car boot sale?) but there is lots of really good ideas. I have a deal with my two that for every 'new food' they try, they get to choose a meal they like. For example, my eldest (6) chose to try a chicken tikka and mango chutney wrap (which he loved) and that evening we had chilli and rice as it is his fav. I am amazed at the things my kids eat now through a bit of trial an error and me insisting they must always try what's on offer! HTH

Many apologies for not replying sooner - Thank you so much for the name of the book - I'm off to hunt for it on the internet now, thank you

I can't declare for last month as I was stocking up. So I was well over and that included household cleaning and loo rolls.

Any how this month back to £100.

And I have already spent £7. I have rounded that up. As I put the small change in my mortgage overpayment pot.

    All the best to everyone.

    Yours

    Calley

Milk [and a whoopsied French stick] were bought today, so not an NSD to round off the month after all. Never mind - I'm amazed we managed 11 NSDs!

So, I'm declaring £191.10 for August, just inside the £200 budget we set ourself.

I'm pleased, but know we can do better, especially if I keep out of the shops as much as possible. I have, therefore, agreed a budget with Him Indoors of £150 for the calendar month of September - and he will be taking responsibility for the bulk of the actual shopping. We'll also try to top the 11 NSDs.

We'll be working on putting a dent in the stockpiles and freezer stash, and grown-up shopping lists will be happening and everything :rotfl: but to make it a bit more interesting - maybe even fun - we will be aiming to spend as little as possible across the whole month, and putting any unspent grocery budget money into a pot to fund some kind of fun for our anniversary in October.

    This could be interesting... ;)
Haven't done the GC since February, but a glance at the Tower of Receipts tells me I really need to get back into it... and plenty of other Challenges besides. :o

    Morning

I'm declaring at £463.85/£450 for August which isn't bad considering some 'junk' did creep back into my grocery budget but I really could have done better.

I've got quite a lot of stuff in though so September is going to be a use-up month.
T*sco delivery today (to get the 1000 points) and then I'm going to make a plan for as much of September as I can and chop the budget a bit.

So please could you put me down for £380 for September. Food/toiletries and cleaning/laundry stuff only, no junk, no delivery charges, some new recipes (especially the SW one's - I'm back on the wagon!) and I'm feeling quite determined this month to meet my target.

    Good luck everybody for September!
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.
  • Hello - I've been lurking for a couple of weeks and would love to join in please? I've had some changes in circumstances (I'm recovering from an operation and have had to find a new job whilst off on sick leave) and am now on a much tighter budget than I was. Just a month ago I was spending £120 or more every week on groceries, I have managed to get this down to £80 without too much effort (I never had any time before so just bought the same things, over bought on fresh stuff and ended up chucking it etc)

Please put me down for £300 for september this is for 2 adults, 2 kids and a cat. I used a code for £20 off an £80 shop at Ocado (thanks to another MSE'r) so have so far for september spent £65 - I actually struggled to spend £80 which is a miracle for me. But have stocked up on toiletries and cleaning stuff and nappies and wipes for the month :)
    September GC £341/£300

Store cupboard stock-up done last night (£59.97), there was more spent but I have a celebrations budget which covers parties and some bits were picked up for DS2 4th birthday party - I couldn't say no to his party lunch of jelly and ice cream, hot dogs and iced gems could I? The celebrations budget is capped and any extra will come out of the GC.

NSD here. LO tom and lentil soup / boiled egg and soldiers for lunch, ham pea and pasta for tea. Need to make a cake too.

    Enjoy your day everyone!
