Hi all,
Sorry I haven't been on in a while - no excuses just time and life getting in the way!
Well I've blown the budget this month and its not because of partying this August either!
We've had to make a very difficult decision with regards to the cats dried special food. You may recall that we were buying it from a local shop for a pound or two more than I could get it online. This was an acceptable and calculated expenditure. Unfortunately our local guy put his price up hugely (he may have been forced to who knows) and the price differential was so big that to support him was financial madness. So during this month I ordered two of the 5kg bags from an online retailer, got 10% off and will get cashback through quidco. The saving is enormous but buying two packs in one month has tipped me over by £20 odd. I also won't need to buy more for a couple of months.
I'm not too concerned as we've been very good this year and have enough flexibility in the total annual budget to soak up the excess.
So, Spiggle declaring £270.53 for August. Please put me down for £240 in September. Thank you. :A
I will get more back on track in September I promise. Sig is up to date.
Hope everyone is doing well and best of luck for the new month to come. Hang on to those purses, lists and remember the mantra "I will only buy what I need, I will only buy what I need, I will only buy what I need, ..."
Take care and speak soon,

69chick - you need to consider where your protein comes from if you are eating veggie that's why we use foods like quorn, etc.. just adding extra veg might not give you a balanced meal x
Well done everyone!

First spend for September today. Went armed with a list and stuck to it pretty much, the only 2 things extra I got were some weetabix for H2B and some cereal for me, which I needed and should have been on the list in any case. So first supermarket spend for the month is £37.28 and got a voucher for £6 off a £40 spend but it has to be used by the 11th September so not sure whether it'll get used or not. Forgot eggs so asked H2B to pop to the corner shop to get half a dozen, he came back with a dozen  they'll get used though, already used 4 tonight to make some ginger muffins which are cooling waiting to be iced. Eggs weren't too badly priced either, £1.29 for 6 large free range eggs so total spends so far are £39.86Going to get to grips with food shopping again, starting February!

Hello!
I haven't been here for ages, hope you are all doing ok. We were lucky enough to be taken on holiday with family and had a really fantastic time, it's back to normal now and back to budgeting.
I stuck to my budget this month (we were away for 2 weeks so our £200 only had to last 2 weeks and 4 days. Can I declare £200.00 for August please.
Please can I have £220.00 for September
September is going to be tight, I need to really stick to my budget. We got home on Saturday and on Sunday I spent £25.50 in L**l and £20.32 in S**nsburys. I've since spent another £2.29 in L**l on eggs and lettuce that I had forgotten and £5.00 in C**p on toilet roll (although I had a £3.00 voucher so only spent £2.00). I'll add this all up and update my signature.
Good luck for September everyone.

well finally did it, dropped into waitro$e on the way home from work for tomatoes and came out with...............just tomatoes for a pound :j, well pleased with myself, then again, dropped in there last night for a bag of salad and ended up spending £8.06, still, most of it was reduced (actually all of it except the bloomin salad!) and my basket should have cost £16.83, so at least got a lot of meals for my buck ( dozen nice sausages, huge "designer" pizza, pork taco meal, as well as the salad)
can't believe that i am actually enjoying attempting to be frugal ( if shopping at waitro$e can be considered frugal) but do enjoy the thrill of the chase of a good bargain!
have a good evening
