I had a TERRIBLE August and so am declaring that I am a total failure!1 However can I please join in for September and aim for a budget of £300 please? Just out of interest how many of you include things like toilet rolls, cleaning stuff and other non-food household items in their budget? My budget aims to cover all those things plus pet food for one adult and two hollow legged teenagers.Jane

Mortgage-free wannabe 2025 £571/30000 -
Adding in a few small spends from the past couple of days totalling less than £5 - a cauli, lots of mushrooms and a stack of RTC 10p marge, mostly - and hoping for an NSD today. Still [just] under budget, but it ain't over until I start singing, so not declaring quite yet...
As for September, there's a conversation to be had later with Him Indoors about how much of a grocery budget reduction we're willing to attempt [it would be great to not spend enough to pay for at least one night away for our anniversary in October].
The question is whether I'm going to be able to surrender control to let him do most/all of the grocery shopping. That's probably going to be the most difficult thing for me, and realising that has really brought home to me how much of an out-of-control freak I've become about food shopping. However, even I have to admit I'm now hoarding to the point of being stupidly and potentially wastefully overstocked, so I have to let him at the task so I can try to kick the food-shopping habit, get my Rational Head on and follow the mighty JackieO's splendid example.
Haven't done the GC since February, but a glance at the Tower of Receipts tells me I really need to get back into it... and plenty of other Challenges besides.0 -

I am declaring £428.19 for Auguat as I will not be buying anything today, £28 over budget but better than the £84 over budget last month. Didn't quite meet my target for NSDs so going for 14 again in September, have meal planned the full month and going to put together a Mr A order to get the bulk of the months food. Not sure if anyone has already mentioned this but something I have picked up on another thread Mr As block of mild cheddar is £5.58 per kg but if you buy the grated Mild Cheddar it is £4.12 per kg so a really good saving and I know people say they grate their cheese to make it last longer so I am going to have a go and see if it lasts longer. Good look all for September and see you all in the next thread where I WILL meet buget lol!To get to Disneyland Florida 20160

I am declaring for August £321.05, so slightly over budget. Which brings my annual to £2888.89. I will set Septembers budget at £270.
I have already spent £12.27 at C**p. They have got grated cheese there on offer, this brings the price per kilo down below the block cheese - it seems to be a trend emmad! DH is doing the weekly shop tonight which includes a big top up of the stores .
CompBunny It wont help the waist linebut if you bake your own cakes you will probably eat less as hm is always more filling as it contains real food not just chemicals.
Good luck to everyone else crossing the finishing line :j.0
