I think i may need to do a store cupboard challenge, and in the new year stop hoarding! Then i may have the space to store all the jam I bet i'll be making. . . and the damson gin for the xmas hampers.
Thank you again!

Hi there everyone!
I plan to start the grocery challenge, however I will not set a budget for the first month - I'd like to start by keeping an accurate record of what we spend on groceries! We're already much better at savvy shopping than a few years ago but I'm sure recording spends will be an eye opener and enable us to set a more accurate budget.
Our biggest downfall is junk food. We are awful! We will buy value bran flakes, bypass bread for a few days if there are no decent offers and use up other carbs instead etc but then go and spend a few quid PER SHOP on naughty things. It is also not unknown for us to take a trip to the supermarket just to buy chocolate... very very bad. :eek:We have tried just limiting ourselves to reduced goods for junk (20p packets of donuts and cookies!) but its not such a saving if you are buying them every day! Or kidding ourselves that buying Tesco value swiss rolls 3 for 45p (current offer) is a wise way to spend money...not so wise if we are spending it every day! Life is tough for us at the moment but it will be even worse if I can no longer fit into my size 10 jeans (size 8 is a distant memory now) and can't afford new ones after wasting it all on junkIt has to stop!
The other larger expense is my unwillingness to change from organic eggs and dairy for moral reasons/animal welfare concerns. But I'm sure analysing our spending will highlight other areas of extra expense!:T
Hope to see you all around!GC2012: Nov £130.52/£125

Evening all - with this sudden cold weather my thoughts are turning towards warming hearty food (had lasagne and salad for tea - definitely not very satisfying:().
Apart from leek and potato soup and butternut squash and sweet potato soup I'm a bit clueless about other vegetarian cheap and warming winter stuff so will have to have a browse of the recipe threads.
Anyway, I popped to Mr A today for some Slimming World supplies and Bachelors pasta and sauce packs, supernoodles and savoury rice are all on offer for 40p each - may help other slimmers? I often take a pasta and sauce (prepared the night before) to work for lunch and so 40p is a bargain with a bit of fruit added for "pudding".
£6 spent in total that I'll add to the Sept thread budget once we're we're up and running.0
