The bees I think its only scottish aldi and lidl that accept credit card payments though I've no idea why that is.

Have spent another £3.40 this morning on x24 v. large freerange eggs from farm down the road. This was planned for as need them for my mealplan. Kids and I have just had fried egg baps (with whoopsied baps from the freezer) for lunch. Will also take 1/2 dozen eggs to inlaws tomorrow for putting me and the kids up for the night!

DD and I are planning on doing some baking so off to get DS down for his nap to limit the chaos :D

Brings my total to £71.25 for the month so far. Off to get this on my signature now...

Well, a delivery from Mr S this morning and then a trip to Mr T and to A!di just now mean my spends to date = £96.67. However, the only things we need until after the weekend are milk ( 3 x 4pt cartons - should be £3) and the Sunday paper (£2.20), so I'm ok... for now!!! We're also away 14th- 21st, so I need to start running down fresh supplies at home. I will be taking stuff with me and also including grocery spends & snacks whilst we're away (but not the couple of planned for meals out) Lots of baking and actually using up some of the food mountains I have in my cupboards/ fridge/ freezers/ garage should see us ok.... :D:D:D

I thought I had joined this challenge already this month, but my post is definitely not here. I wonder which random thread I did post on.

I did try this challenge earlier in the year and did really, really badly but I must get a grip of spending so I'm here for another go. I am really interested to hear all the tips and things that you all do, even the stuff that you all take for granted as obvious.

Please put me down for £500 that is for 2 adults, 2 children, 2 cats and a rabbit + loads of house guests (young and old) for August.

Well done you for trying again if at first you dont suceed and all that. Lost count of the challenges I have done badly at, but am doing very well at the moment, so good luckto you ,to me .and all on here.

Hoping for a nsd today, I could really do with some ideas for tonights dinner, keep changing my mind, but think I have decided to use the chicken breast tonight but don't know what to do with it...I would like something that I can serve with new potatoes to use those...I have got some bacon in the freezer which I could put with it or garlic? and I have all the usual suspects in the larder....any ideas!! at the moment think it is going to be fried with some onion and garlic but not very exciting is it :o

Had a bread run this morning so £4.01 to start me off.

I usually make my own bread, but discovered Wilkinsons have great reductions, better than supermarkets. Got Kingsmill 6 soft white rolls, 20p. Kingsmill love to toast crumpets 20p, Kings mill 4 love to toast muffins 20p and Kingsmill Little big loaf 20p all with two days to go BBF cost me 80p but receipt for full price £3.89. Dont see why I should make my own at this price.

I never considered Wilkis for food before.

I was quite good and joined the grocery challenges when I first started living the MSE way but this has definitely slid in the past couple of years. As I'm now of maternity leave (for the second time) I really need to get our food budget under control so would like to guess that our spend is around £450 a month. Could I try for £400 for August please MrsMcCawber?

This is four 2 adults, 1 2 year old, a 1month old and 6 cats and includes food and cleaning products etc

They certainly take them round here but had no idea it was a "Scottish" thing! Very odd.:(

Just back from Mr L - store is around 20 miles away so usually try to go once a month & stock up but had an errand to run and realised I was only 4 miles away so it seemed to be a good chance to go!

Stocked up on "heavy" things like concentrated apple juice (for lunches), diluting juice (for the rest of the day at work) and bottled sparkling water (for the house - our water is horrible and I don't like it "flat" without diluting juice).

Few other bits to try for the 1st time so hoping I've found another few cheaper alternatives.

Only downside is they don't stock "my" milk (I have to use a "special" milk due to dietry needs) so I'll still have to pop to Mr A at the weekend for that.
