That's really great news skipsmum, must be a huge relief, hope you all enjoyed the celebration. After almost 4 years I have finally been discharged from the renal consultancy team:j got a very positive assessment, they think I'm doing great, no need to keep going although I will always need to keep an eye on kidney fuction- double whammy as she also suggested as I've been doing so well with lifestyle changes that they start to reduce some of the meds I'm on:j:j:j
That's great news MrsW, hope you sleep well.
tru, I admire all the exercise but is it OK to be shifting slabs with sciatica? and well done Bratz on getting your coat sorted
Podperson, you obviously had a great idea asking for poitives in everyone's day. Not cheesy at all. Glad your choir practice went well and I don't blame you for hidingI had a lovely holiday in Edinburgh last year, I thought it was a brilliant place. All the lovely memories came back when I saw bits of the 'other Royal Wedding' on tv at the weekend.
I've had a good day but hard to say why really. I did have the promised pampering session and did a proper pedicure and manicure. I also managed to clear out a couple of kitchen cupboards and wash down all the units. And the weather was gorgeous!!! (probably last one for a while:().
While I haven't been doing the proper challenge I have been trying not to buy toiletries and other bits but use up what I've got. When I did my nails tonight I noticed I've almost run out of emery boards. I'm down to the last couple from kits, hotels etc. Can anyone recommend where to get decent ones? I bought some of those long, wide, pretty ones from Superdrug but they weren't much good. What do others use? I also need an 'everyday' shower gel/body wash. I've got my Clarins for high days and holidays but want something cheaper for everyday use. Any recommendations?
Sorry post is a bit disjointed. Good to talk to you all.0 -

However, I ended up NOT shifting them. Not because I was being sensible, but because I thought "Why am I doing all the heavy work? You're the bloke, now go and be blokey" :rotfl:

@maman, I got a file thing from Boots not long back. Not an emery board as such but it's got 4 sides to it and each side has a function (helpfully written on it!) one for filing, one for removing rides, one for buffing and one for shining. I think it's great actually and wasn't that expensive.
I think about £5 but it's lasting for ages.
Can't remember the name but it's beside all the nail files and stuff in the store.carpe diem

Quick 3 positives...DS got a job today! Yay! An actual job!
Well done to your DS :T:T:TNo it isn't. I see things that need doing so I just do them without thinkingHowever, I ended up NOT shifting them. Not because I was being sensible, but because I thought "Why am I doing all the heavy work? You're the bloke, now go and be blokey" :rotfl:
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Love it
Quickly filed my nails today, need to re-paint my toes at some point. Caught the sun a wee bit yesterday, a couple of parts on my shoulders were a bit sore under the showerSilly me but I was trying to get rid of some tan lines
Raining here so at least I can give my skin a break
Hugs to those struggling with the heat or will things generally.
I have been reading a book from the library called The Makeover Book......I've really enjoyed it, some helpful tips in there, very similar to what this thread is about, just making the effort in small ways.

Am loving everyone's positive things
LL - hoping you're feeling a little less stressed today, it all seems to happen at once sometimes doesn't it?Your sister sounds lovely, I'm really close with my brother and am so excited will be seeing him soon, I always feel quite sad for people who aren't close to their siblings - I can't imagine it.
Tru - yay on your wire binder thingyI think we may need piccies of the fabulous notebooks when they're done (you may get business for a start I'm a sucker for pretty books lol).
Skipsmum - yay on your DS getting a job - sounds like your house must be a bit manic at the moment so def deserve a takeaway and a drink!
Mrs W - hope you're feeling a bit better today - please don't feel bad for being affected, like you said it is normal. I don't think we ever really get over things like that, we just sort of learn to live with them a bit betterglad your health seems to be looking up tho!
Maman - I absolutely love the city, I should really put that in my positives - that I'm living somewhere lovely now rather then where I used to be. The area in particular was just awful - about a month before we moved we nearly had our back door broken down by half a dozen lads in hoodies with baseball bats because they were looking for someone 2 doors up who I'm sure was dealing drugs. When OH shouted out the window that we didn't know him and he didn't live here they replied that they didn't believe us and were going to break in and beat in out of us  was pretty terrified. Was very lucky that they got scared off as even though I called 999 the police didn't show up for over half an hour and even then didn't come to the door, I just saw them wandering causally up the back street and went out to speak to them. I think that was the final straw for OH who had been worrying about whether to actual move or not.
Tru - please be careful with your health, like you said, what do we have blokes around for if they can't do the heavy jobs
Bitsy - might have to have a look for that book at the library, looks interesting.
Hope everyone is having a good day! Did no exercise again yesterday so feeling a bit lazy, had a reasonably healthy tea of quiche and jacket pot though so that's something0 -
Hi Everyone
Some great posts as usual. Glad to see you all doing so well.
Just a quick post - shouldn't be here really - got masses to do. Did a huge ASDA shop, need to put it all away, clean up the pigsty and get dinner on. Oh and I really must try and squeeze in some exercise - even if it's only a token gesture.:o
I did at least manage a mani and pedi last night, so finally getting back into the grove a bit.
Maman - dying to know - have you managed to make your target - is it champers, fish and chips and cornish pasties all round.:rotfl::rotfl:
Didn't get to WW this week - just couldn't get out of the damned house in time:mad:
Will just try and keep going on my ownio this week. Have a nice well stocked fruit bowl and lots of salady/veggie things - should find it easier now that it's a bit cooler. For some reason I always feel so bloated when it's hot, my ankles were quite swollen last night too.
Anyway sorry not able to address you all personally today - I do read everything though and it's lovely to catch up with you all.
Oh I've also managed to book myself some physio (NHS) for next week, about time too I'm a mass of aches and pains at the moment.
Mind you it's my own stupid fault because I've not done any stretches or yoga for several days so I've got no-one to blame but myself. Hey ho. Will just have to make more of an effort.
Bye for now x0 -

Sadly not. I was very cross this morning because I put on a 1lb:mad: and I've no idea how as I've been quite good this week. So no Trollbead yet! Probably not for a few weeks now as it's going to be harder to stick to the plan this week. I think it's quite common to find it hard to lose the last few lbs.
I've been to have my hair done this afternoon and my hairdresser (not seen him for 8 weeks) was most complimentary so I've cheered up:D
Lowlights in my hair so much darker than usual. Cost a fortune:eek: Out to dinner later, definitely not SW friendly but back on the wagon tomorrow.
Will try to post again later but just had to share my news!:rotfl:0 -
It is that very same book. I wouldn't waste money buying it but I've enjoyed reading it and although some of it is probably common sense in some respect it's nice to have some added incentiveI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
