Oh poor OH, I'm so glad he didn't go careering off the edge of a cliff or whatever would have happened in Benny Hill!:rotfl:
I got my phone sorted. The boy in the shop was able to fix it but he couldn't tell me definitively what had happened. I suspect (having pushed him for an answer) that it was something to do with them combining various phone companies they'd merged with. This is the book you need LL
I haven't done a great deal today. Weather has been glorious so I sat in the garden and finished a rubbishy book I started weeks ago. I think it must have come from the CS but it was truly so awful that I was laughing out loud at the poor writing, implausible behaviour of the characters etc. I made myself finish it but that will be going back to CS PDQ. I'd be ashamed to lend it to anyone.
We've got blackberries growing at the bottom of the garden:o There are plans to re-design it but meantme I'll enjoy the fruits. Yesterday when I looked there weren't enough ripe but they should be ready soon with all the sunshine.
Nothing much done on the fab front today except for usual routines and sticking firmly with eating plan. However a few hours in the sun is good for giving my face a bit of colour, better than make up!0 -
LL, I'm glad your OH is OK. I must admit, I was :rotfl:
maman, we've got blackberries too, though ours are on purpose, we actually went out and bought the bushI was watching a young female blackbird stealing them yesterday, she would pick one then hop over near me and eat it. She's mocking me, I tell ya
The wedges have been shoved at the back of the wardrobe. I wobbled on them when I went to sit down and twisted my hip a bit. It took me just over 10 minutes to stand back up again. I had to move forward on the chair a little bit, then change position, move a bit, change position, repeat over and over.........there were a couple of times where I froze, it felt like it was going to dislocate if I dared move. Obviously all the others trus were out so I had no-one to help meI have another pair with just a little heel (and the heel is wider), I'll stick to those for a while, I think.
So, on to today. I'm aiming for the same targets as yesterdayI'm not doing any gardening, I want to stay fresh and clean, lol. I sorted out a lot of my business stuff yesterday, so I'll finish that today. I ordered a couple of things that should arrive today, so I can put some note books together and get them out for sale. I WILL paint my toenails and have that glass of fizz!

Tired and grumpy here at Chez Bitsy. Kids just not sleeping great. Am working full time in the holidays so am struggling to get any housework done which is doing my head in. However I refuse to wish away the summer holidays. So I guess I need to suck it up and let go a little. Not easy for someone like me
Mindful eating a bit hit and miss but will persevere. Haven't done any exercise. Again. Just too tired all the time and it's been too hot. I've not even done any yoga. I just haven't got the inclination to do anything. Really b*gger allI so need to go on holiday.
Sorry this has been a bit whingy......once I start it's hard to stop
LL - glad OH was OK.
tru - pass the champers
maman - I can't believe how early the blackberries are. Normally round here they are September/October!I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Thanks for that Bitsy, I'd thought the same. I've had a look this morning and the only really juicy ones are really high up. It's obviously where they are in full sun for most of the day.
Sorry you're feeling down. My plan is do do a bit of paperwork and ironingthis morning and then sit in the garden again this afternoon. I've been so grumpy when the weather was chilly and dull I really want to make the most of it.
Enjoy your day tru, keep yourself clean and enjoy the bubbly!;)0 -
hi everyone,
having a quick browse...no time to read and reply to all so (((((lots of hugs))))) to everyone. DHs nan is much worse now. I have tried to prepare him for the worst but he thinks if she just ate a bit more she would feel bettershes broken her hip, shes 93, she has pneumonia and kidney failure....shes not coming home.
Bitsy my kids are the same. Last week it wasnt so hot and we had a lovely week but this week its 30 degrees and they just cant deal with it. Have you got any time off during the holidays?
We spent Sunday replacing the fence. It was getting embarrassing having to keep fetching the dog back from other peoples gardens in the night. She is not best pleased and keeps barking at the new fenceI feel smug
I have managed to do my legs with summer glow stuff but then fell asleep without washing my hands. So I have fairly pale legs and orange hands!
Im still spraying away with my perfume! With Sparkles! :happylove And Shiny Things!0 -
Hi all,
LL - glad your OH is ok but had to admit had a bit of a giggle at that!
Am rather jealous of people's blackberries - remember when I was little the old chap who lived next door had a massive blackberry bush that grew over the wall into our garden and was always happy for us to pick whatever we wanted from it. When he passed away and new neighbours moved in they cut the lot down
*hugs* to those feeling a bit down. Still not feeling that great but did go see Arriety at the cinema last night to cheer myself up, really enjoyed itJust feeling rather drained, would really like to go to bed when I get home but have choir practice and since it's the next-to-last before our first show I really ought to go. Also OH has just reminded me that he invited a couple of his friends round. I don't mind them coming but one of them has a new girlfriend who moved herself in with him (after a week!) and am rather hoping he doesn't bring her along. I don't dislike her as such but she's one of those people who's a bit hard work and I'm not really feeling up to dealing with her today.

Hi Everyone
Just a quickie - noticed how a few of us are feeling a bit low at the moment - hugs to all. I think it's the heat - don't worry it'll soon be back to normal.
A few days without exercise or treatments doesn't really matter in the great scheme of things. School holidays were always going to be a challenge.
I've been feeling downright cranky this past couple of days, very lethargic and a bit of a squiffy tummy just for good measure. It's only the heat.
I think it's even worse for children - they still try and tear around as normal - they don't understand about resting when it's hot.
Don't know if this helps anyone - but if you have access to your loft - if you open the loft hatch in the evening it allows some of the warm air to escape through your roof and keep the bedrooms a bit cooler.
Also traditional light bulbs give off heat too, energy saving ones don't. So if you've got ordinary tungsten bulbs or even worse spotlights in the children's rooms, try and keep them switched off.
Anyway OH now gone for his nap so might go and have a little siesta.
Will potter about - gardening - repotting some plants - nice and gentle and prime the mirror and picture frames later when it's a bit cooler.
Remember ladies, it's a marathon not a sprint, when the mercury rises and the temperature soars - go all Mediterranean = manana will do just fine.;)0 -

I know how you feel - 6 years last Sunday since my mum passed and it would have been my dad's 83rd birthday on Friday, he passed 20 years ago last March. Poor DH caught the brunt of it the other day, I was trying so hard to pick an argument & he wouldn't join in!! I had several weeps & hugs and felt better for it.
It does get easier, I know from experience, but this week will always be a difficult time for me, as is late Feb / early March when i have mum's birthday & dad's anniversary.0 -
Just a quick Hi
Hope you are OK Mrs W - anniversaries ofsomeone's death, or their birthdays, family occasions, Christmas etc are always very difficult. Take care, hope you feel better soon.
I thought the blackberries were early too.
Apparently, early and abundant harvests, especially of wild produce is supposed to be a portent of a forthcoming hard winter:eek:
My grandparents (both sets) were full of old folk wisdom (I suppose people were more in tune with nature back then). They could predict the weather with great accuracy.
It's something I've always been interested in too.
Last autumn I noticed that nature was particularly bountiful, all the trees that grow berries and fruits were absolutely laden with them. The animals also seemed to be preparing early. The ponies in the back field grew very thick shaggy coats, the foxes were very bold coming right into our garden in broad daylight rather than waiting until dusk, and also that the geese that fly over our house as part of their migration pattern were about three weeks early. I kept saying to anyone who would listen that we were going to have a tough winter. I'm sure people thought I was crackers. I was right though.
I wonder if the early blackberries are a sign. The bushes were laden too.
Maybe it's time for us humans to start preparing.
Not yet I want to just enjoy summer first.:rotfl:
G'night all x0
