Hi Everyone
Hope you've all had a good weekend, and are feeling refreshed, revitalised and raring to go.
Great weather here - let's hope it continues.
Good news - finally managed to sand down those pesky picture frames:j - ready to start painting now - shabby chic - using up some creamy coloured emulsion I already have, so cheap as chips and eco friendly too.
The frames are all charity shop finds, three large frames and two mirrors, paid about £3 for the lot.
Well done on the decluttering Lizzie - you can't beat a bit of Feng Shui to perk you up.I've been working my way through the house, thinking about getting a skip for the overflow in the garage - some pieces are too big to take to the tip myself.
Try not to worry too much about the weight and exercise - all in good time, you'll do it when the time is right. Just try to eat healthily when you can. For now just concentrate on a bit of pampering and grooming, that alone will make you feel better and help you to get motivated.
Maman - Just as matter of interest - how long has it taken you to achieve your weight loss (fantastic).
At my heaviest I was about 13st4lbs, now down to 12st. I am aiming to lose a further stone by our Winter Solstice deadline. I think that should be achievable and realistic. I am hoping that by taking the slow but steady option my improved eating habits will be sustainable over the long term. I want the slimmer trimmer me to last for my lifetime (a nice long healthy one I hope:rotfl:)
I am not too worried about what the scales say - for me it's about my size. I would like to be a 12/14. I was 18-20 at the start, currently a 16. I also want to improve my shape by toning up, also to build up lean muscle and good strong bones for strength and stamina. I want to avoid osteoporosis in later years.
Back later, OH calling me ................0 -
I ordered some sandals with wedge heels, I thought they were about three inches high - they're five inches. FIVE  I don't usually wear heels, I'm too scared to leave the house in them :rotfl: I've been practicing tottering around the house. They seem to have thrown my hips into a different position, the tendon in my right hip doesn't feel as tight.
I'm struggling with pilates, I'm so wary of it affecting my hip. It's all in my mind - pilates strengthens everything if done in the right positions, I've had it drilled into me during dance lessons (since the age of five) so I KNOW I'm not going to do any damage.
I assume these are platform type wedge heels. I have some which add about 5 inches but if I take off the platform bit they are only 3 inches. They are supercomfy which is why when I go out dancing with the girls next Friday they will be my new shoe of choice. I love my 4 inch stillies BUT after a long night of dancing I can't walk LOL But I don't feel the same wearing flats IYSWIM. so wedge heels is the way forward for me
Just take it slow and steady with the pilates. It WILL help xI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -
Back again
Looks like a few crossed posts here.
Tru - five inch heels  They would have to sit on my dressing table as ornaments. I had a friend who did that once, she bought the most beautiful strappy little numbers but couldn't wear them. Her bedroom had one of those lovely old fireplaces so she put them in pride of place on the mantlepiece. At least she could look at them even if she couldn't wear them.:D
I think pilates shouldn't do any harm, after all it's all about gentle stretching etc - just make sure you are in the right position when you do the exercises.
Bitsy I think you are on the right track looking into your sugar cravings. Even if you don't need to lose weight and feel perfectly ok a diet rich in sugar can lead to problems later, diabetes, heart disease, tooth decay etc. I think you're right about "hidden" sugars (and salt) - an awful lot is added to convenience foods etc
Anyway I've done well with the healthy eating today, whilst OH had a snack of lemon and raisin dropped pancakes I had cold chicken, tomatoes and olives.:A
Todays Exercise Swiss Ball and hand weights
Todays treatment - mini manicure and a good slathering

Well, since you ask.....
It has taken me 10 months to lose just over 3 stone. This has definitely been by the scenic route because every time I've been on holiday (and that's been 5 including Christmas) I've put some weight back on (up to 5lbs:o). It's probably averaged about 1.5lbs a week because of that. I seem to remember I'm a bit taller than you LL (5ft9) so at 13st 9.5lbs I was a 16-18. It was pushing towards the 18 that made me decide to lose weight. I'm now 10st 7lbs (or I plan to be by Thursday;)) and a size 12. I'm planning to lose a little more over the next few months just to give me a bit of a buffer but, all in all, I'm very pleased. Delighted in fact:D
I'm very lazy about exercise. I go dancing once a week and that's been about it. Walking is what I prefer so I should really make a plan for that. My best bet is just to take off on my own and walk briskly. If I'm with DH or a friend it seems to turn into ambling. I used to belong to a gym but I found it boring after a while. The upside is that now I've lost the weight I'm so much more agile and lighter on my feet.
No treatments or anything today but I did get made up properly. DH and I went to the cinema this evening and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

morning all
wasn't on over the weekend and just caught up, phew!
As per instructions I haven't been filing the old heels as much, but putting on lotion every morning after the shower and before I put my socks on...it does seem to be making a difference.
The hair turned out great!! A lovely electric blue all underneath. I forgot to take pics but will do it today and put them up I promisecarpe diem

Morning :hello:
Gggrrrrrrrr periods, don't ya just hate 'em? No energy, going from hot to cold in five seconds flat.........
My wedges don't have removeable bits, I didn't even know you could get them like thatI've realised what the problem is (apart from the massive height!) - the wedge narrows a bit at the bottom. My old pair were the same width all the way down, IYSWIM.
I've rushed around this morning, getting things done. One more job to do, then the day is all mine. I'm going to start with a body brush, then a warm shower and lots of body lotion, a spray of perfume and some foot cream. I removed the nail varnish yesterday, I'll pick a new colour and redo them.
My biz has almost been forgotten, what with the me-time and the messy house. So I'll go through that today and find a place for everything. I could do with a little office really. Then an hour on the sofa with an episode of Warehouse 13 and a glass of elderflower champagneBulletproof0 -
Morning all,
Hope everyone had a good weekend, have felt rather ill for most of it so have got absolutely nothing done and feeling rather fed up that it's Monday again and back to workOn a brighter note though have lost another 2lbs this week so that makes 13 for the month! Am rather impressed as I've been very lazy with the healthy eating this week, must get organised again and do a meal plan. Was hoping to walk home again tonight as I do think it's helping but remembered I have to meet someone who's renting my parking space out for the month so must dash home. Back on the shred later though I think (one of these days I will manage to do a full week on it!!).

It's sounds like you have a blissful few hours planned, ENJOY!! I've been pottering around doing some jobs and when the current machine load is finished I'm off into town.
My new(ish), fancy phone is playing up so I need to go to the shop and ask why it's giving people a message that it's unavailable when it's all switched on etc. I wondered why my friends and family were ignoring my texts last week:o I wish I hadn't bothered, I never had problems with my old, basic PAYG model. I don't use half the functions (never got around to playing the DVD of instructions). I've probably accidentally switched something on/off that I shouldn't have. I'm sure some child in the shop will put me right:D
Back later. Gorgeous day here!0 -
Well, that went wrong :rotfl:
I've just spent a couple of hours in the greenhouses. I walked into a huge cobweb, it's all over my freshly-washed hair. I have bits of compost down the sides of my toenails. I think I've lost half my body weight through sweating. I've scrubbed and scrubbed my hands, but the green from the tomato plants won't come off.
Someone please pass the wine.Bulletproof0 -
Hi Everyone
Where has today gone - I think I must have blinked and missed it. So busy - and yet don't seemed to have achieved much.
Went blackberrying - picked loads - made lots of crumble, so glad I bought that second freezer.
Had a real Benny Hill moment when we were out. Oh's wheelchair decided to take off by itself - with OH in it - careering down a grassy bank. Poor OH must have been terrified for a minute but he saw the funny side once he was out of danger.
Tru :rotfl: Your mishaps in the greenhouse made me laugh. Oh the perils of being a glamourous woman:rotfl:.
As well as my walk I also managed 50 tummy crunches and a few stretches. No time tonight but my hands need some serious TLC too - gardener's hands.
Maman - Mobile phones - ha - they are waaay too complicated for me now. They make me feel like a right dinosaur - at least you can text - I'm hopeless:o
What I really need is a special course for technophobes and dinosaurs, I really don't want to be left behind. Hopefully one day I will have grandchildren and I will need to be on the same planet as them.
Anyway - feeling tired now, so off to bed.
G'night all x0
