-needed to chill after the day before being so frantic. No FTF except for a good soak and a bit of much neede me time with TV, laptop and a good book.
off for a walk later, probably in the rain by the looks of things but I don't mind -at least its abit cooler. I find nothing like a good walk tyo clear your mind and lift your mood.
Sounds like bliss lizzie, and that is pampering of a sort. It doesn't have to be beauty treatments.
Agree about the walk. I'll have one later on the way to football (first match of season:j) but that will be more brisk exercise alongside DH. Manana, I must get round to walking on my own again. While I do enjoy the countryside and the seaside even more, I'm happy with urban walking (aka nosing at other people's gardens!).

Hi Everyone
Six weeks already!!!! Tempus Fugit and all that.
20 weeks to the Solstice
Welcome Dizzydolly - you've come to the right place for support and encouragement. Just a word here - you say you want to lose 3 stones by Christmas or maybe 2 stones.
I am no expert but I would say that you are risking huge disappoinment by setting your goals too high. Nice and easy is our mantra here.
Be kind and gentle to yourself. If you can lose roughly 1lb per week you will lose 20lbs by Christmas - thats 1.5 stones. OK not your ultimate target but more than enough to make a very real difference to how you look and how you feel. You will drop at least one dress size, maybe 2 if you also do some exercise to help you tone up.
So how are we doing ladies - up for it or getting fed up.
Judging by the posts this last week or so - some of us have had a few ups and downs and a few tribulations, but hey ho, that's just life and as the saying goes "It sure beats the alternative".
Or when desperate to find a positive for your day - as my dear old dad would say "Well, I woke up this morning". Yes a tad macabre.
Back in a mo .......................0 -
Had to split the post - was away from my typing for about 15 mins or so and didn't want to lose what I had done so far;).
Maman - Like you OH is off to the footie this afternoon - with his carer - so I've got a bit of time to myself. He loves going - used to be a regular season ticket holder. Unfortunately because the footie is always played in the winter and because he feels the cold so badly, he can only manage to attend matches at the beginning and end of the season when the weather is warmer.
Going to have a little potter in the garden. Visited the garden centre where DS2 works and couldn't resist a few sale bargains.
Anyway - back to my words of wisdom for today:rotfl:.
I know it's been a bit tough for some this last few days - I honestly think the heat and humidity didn't help. It made me very tetchy - I blew a fuse yesterday over something utterly trivial. Totally unlike me and I have to confess I felt really ashamed of myself afterwards. Not at all the serene gracious and charming person I aspire to be.:o I blame my hormones.:rotfl:
Anyway to all those having a tough time of it - remember we're only six weeks in - it's early days. In the 20 weeks that remains until our target date you will be able to work minor miracles.
For some of us whilst we may not lose all the weight we would like to, we will have transformed our selves - physically, mentally and emotionally - we will emerge from our chrysalis state and will become beautiful butterflies.
Trust me - stick with it and we will be Christmas Crackers.
Just a little patience is all.0 -
Hi all,
Well last night was ok I guess. Started off very badly, OH had spoken to his gran that morning and she had told him that his mum had arranged to meet her at the bus stop to help her to the place at 6.45pm, OH had spoke to his mum last night and she'd told him 7pm. He said to his gran that we would try and get there early to meet her at the bus stop as well but was his mum def going to be there as I was working until 5.30 so we would be a bit rushed. We got there at 6.45, his gran got off the bus (which was totally packed and she was lucky someone gave up their seat for her!) and said that his mum had called her at teatime and said she wouldn't be there until 7pm but if gran got there early 'she was ok to go up herself' ! OH was totally fuming  He asked his mum when she got there how gran was supposed to have managed the cobbled street and the massive stairs on her own and she said 'oh, I knew you were meeting her anyway' *sighs* Anyway his gran asked him not to make a fuss so we just left it - think he's still annoyed tho.
Have put a pound back on this week - kind of expected it as have been very lazy with both the food and exercise. Must get motivated again this week!
Edited as I'm not doing another totally negative post lol! So 3 positives: yesterday came home and OH had done loads of cleaning, rare occurrance so think being stressed may be good for the house at leastFriend and his gf are coming round tonight so hopefully will have a good night - little weird as OH and I never really hang out with other couples as such. Am actually struggling for a 3rd today so will cheat a little as got some nice whoopsies from the supermarket yesterday so am going to have veggie glamorgan sausages, pots with garlic butter and corn cobs for tea tonight - which provided I don't burn it sounds yummy

Finally (really must go and do some work)
Dizzy's remarks about starting a new diet every morning and then it all falling apart about 4-pm got me thinking.
Thought we could pool our knowledge here and offer each other a few tips, i.e. what works and what doesn't.
For me it's about not depriving myself - that way I avoid the craving/binging cycle. A little of what you fancy does you good.
Here's mine
I allow myself a little bit of good quality chocolate most evenings with my after dinner coffee.
Not too fussed about puddings, but when I do indulge then when I'm at home it's usually berries and just a smidgen of cream.
In a restaurant - then it's one pudding, two spoons. I either share a pudding with someone or just pinch a couple of spoonfuls from OH.
(BTW - I have never had any problems in restaurants with pudding sharing - they don't seem to mind).
I have a small glass of wine most days. I also enjoy the occasional gin and tonic.
I adore croissants - now one once a week treat, not 2 every day like before:o.
I try to eat protein at each meal, more satisfying than carb based meals.
I restrict my wheat intake - partly for IBS reasons - but also because I sense that I am addicted to white carbs, the more I eat them the more I seem to crave them. I just try to steer clear.
My all time favourite food is cheese - just a little now and again - I always weigh cheese now so I can monitor my intake.
I try to keep a well stocked fruit bowl for attacks of the munchies.
I hardly ever eat convenience food or ready meals - unless you buy really top of the range ones most of them taste nasty and seem to be rather expensive. TBH the portions are waaay too small.:rotfl:. I batch cook and freeze extras so I have something quick and easy for those CBA days.
Finally, if (that should really read when) I fall off the wagon and backslide well then I just mentally draw a line and start again. If I put on a couple of lbs - well it's not the end of the world.;)
Anyway off to get cracking now - hope you all have a fab weekend.0 -
PP
Sorry to hear about your problems re OH's mum. TBH I don't really know what to say. It must be so frustrating for you. She does sound very thoughtless and rather self-centred. Granny sounds a sweetie though.
I just don't know what it is about some families.
One of the reasons for my outburst yesterday was linked to lack of help and support from OH's family. I sometimes feel that I have been rather abandoned and am simply expected to just cope, all by myself.
His mother died several years ago and his father is 89 and quite frail now, with what is obviously very real signs of dementia. I truly don't expect any support from FIL but I sometimes feel very aggrieved that his wretched sister offers no help or support whatsoever.
I freely admit she lives a long way from us and therefore any real practical help would be a tad difficult- although not impossible.
She could for example break her journey when she goes down to see FIL and at least call in and visit with her brother - it is literally a 20 minute diversion off the motorway.
However, she can't even be bothered to pick up the phone now and again to see how he is and offer to help. She could OH sit to give me a break, even if it was just for one evening once a year.:rotfl:
Ah well - it's not going to happen so no point dwelling on what might be. It just seems a tad unfair at times. At least my family are supportive.
Anyway PP - your OH sounds lovely to care so much about his Gran. Try not to let it get you down too much.
Bye for now x0 -
Hello again,
Had a really heavy downpour as I was getting shopping out of the car, got soaked but it felt so good after the humidity :rotfl: I have dried off and changed into 'comfy' clothes for a quiet evening in.
I have a veg casserole bubbling away in the oven, suddenly aware that I have not eaten much cooked veg over the last monthI have blitzed the bedroom (long overdue) a found a pile of documents  I have asked O/H to sort through them but I shall count that as my third positive :rotfl::rotfl:
Welcome aboard the FTF wagon D/dolly, LL's comments about slow and sure is the way to go. Like most here I have tried most diets, fast and slow, but when I was happy with my weight I just fell back into eating without thinking and the weight returned ++:( Slownsure does less damage when I now fall of the wagon :rotfl:
20lbs by Christmas sounds great to me:j that will also bring me down another dress size :j
My downfall is bread and crisps (don't get me started on nuts!)
Your 4pm munchies is familiar to me, I used to have some porridge and I felt as though I was having a meal, you need to find something that works for you. I look forward to reading your posts, good luck.
Sorry if I am stating the obvious

Sorting through the documents has given O/H a spurt of energy so I have asked him to dispose of the cobwebs I could not reach. It's that time of year so they will be back in a few days. I don't mind the webs it's what live in them that I am :eek: of.
LL, I also love croissants :drool:Most weeks I buy 10 from the farmers market for O/H. He will make them last 3/4 days (he is a slim jim) These days I rarely indulge but sometimes they just call me to eat them :rotfl::rotfl: Thankfully I have never acquired the taste for cheese and have heard many people say it is the hardest thing to cut back on!
Pod, your sausages sound lovely. Are you a veggie or just fancied them? 1lb is not too bad, don't worry about it.
Tru, what are pink fir potatoes? Enjoy your yoga, be careful!
Mrs W, I hope you are feeling better today?
It is a lovely evening, sun is shining, humidity is lower now.
Flowers giving of a lovely fragrance, sun dappling through the walnut tree. My neighbours have just given me some freshly picked mushrooms (yum) which I shall stuff for supper tomorrow.
Maman, Bratz, Bitsy,Lizzy, Hamster,Skip :hello::hello:
May try to get back later.
