They're lovely boiled, cold on a salad or hot on any other meal. I like them raw
I've loved raw potatoes since I was little and I've never been ill from eating them.

Good Evening Ladies and Lurkers,
Sorry haven't posted for a day or two, we have been moving offices- same building but down from third floor to ground...and as with most things with this place...it was absolute chaos! no one had any real idea what was happening when, things all over the place- and no one booked to help actually moce stuff like the big desks etc ARGH:mad: none of the guys in the office were willing to help- had to ask the handyman who'd come in to do some work on the patio if he would help, thankfully he was willing and the finance director ok'd a days work from him to help us! Otherwise would have been me and me secretary trying (in vain) to get stuff moved- director got it into her head that we would have everything moved by end of friday....which she decided at about 1pm....so was completly shattered and more than a little bit cross, not being funny but it was bloody hard work and to insist on getting it all done when half the team wasn't in (and SHE didn't trapise up and down the 3 flights of stairs with stuff) insisting on keeping going after normal business hours - a bug bear of mine as we've talked in the past about not staying late- I go in early every day most days I am in the office by 7.30am so I DON'T appreciate being pushed to stay later than half 5! in the end DH had to come help as there was NO WAY we were going to move the last desk.....and breathe!
Sorry rant over....
right well this week I have well and truly fallen off the FTF wagon:o have done next to nothing. but it's ok, I am going to treat this as a temp break- there has been so much rubbish going on family-wise and work-wise that I just haven't had the energy for anything else, have been collapsing into bed as soon as possible and still feeling shattered...BUT today I had a go at attacking the laundry mountain so that's a positive...it really had started approaching epic proportions:eek:
positive 2, otherwise chilled out during the day read a book, watched an old film and pleased myself for the day (DH was working overtime)
positive 3. decided to treat move to new office as a chance to really make my workspace my own- picked up a print, a couple of pretty coloured jars, picture frame, so my area will be more personalised and pleasant too, before I went into an office with a collegue who had been there for 8yrs and all the pictures/plants/ornaments etc had been chosen by them- nothing too bad just really not my taste sounds like a little thing but I really do think your environment makes a difference to how you feel etc. and since I spend a big portion of my time at work may as well make it a nice place to be! next hunt is a good seat/back cushion to make my chair a bit comfier.....
we are going to chill out tonight and watch a film make some HM popcorn and tomorrow I will have the day to myself again, so will spend some time pampering but will be doing a fair bit of cooking too, during the week find it hard to find time to make indian bread etc but I've been feeling all nostalgic and wanting "home" food the stuff I grew up eating- so tomorrow's menu will be sada roti, chicken curry, channa and spiced pumpkin...nom!
PP sorry to hear about the issues with MIL Vs Gran, we sometimes have a similar-ish issue but not quite so bad it can be so frustrating! as I've posted before though DH's Gran is pretty great and I always feel better when we visit ( she does spoil us too much:o) I think the only thing you can do is keep looking out for gran (like you do already) and leave MIL to it- she won't change just because you want her to, it's a shame but sadly some people just don't seem to care about others in the same way.
LL sounds like you are getting pretty frustrated too- and I agree it isn't fair at all, always amazes me when people can clearly see that their family might need help but won't do anything about it- nevermind eh? you do an amazing job and we're always here for a bit of virtual support!
DizzyDoll- welcome! you'll find plenty of help and support here- just to echo LL though baby steps is definately how it's been working for me and I do think that is the best way to acheive it long term- a lot of it is developing new habits and learning how to get the balance right- a quick fix won't do that, and you'll slide back before you know it-
it's a bit like when you have a medical/psychiatric problem...stay with me here- treating the symptom make make it seem better quickly, but does nothing unless you treat the cause...sorry if that didn't make a lot of sense have been talking treatment/psychiatry with Mum all day ( she manages a psychiatric re-hab unit- and as I have a lot of interest in that area we tend to talk through cases/theories a lot- no names of course!)
Maman How was you're afternoon?
Carmen- I think it's the humidity that gets to me most, makes me wish for a real storm- I love watching them too- one of my favourite memories is as a child on holiday in mauritius sneaking up to the roof with my cousins during a really good storm and watching the lightning travel across the sea amazing!
Lizzie hope you had a good walk and Tru did you try the DVD yet?
 to everyone else hope you are all doing well!

hi:hello:
Thanks Carmen, maman, feeling better today, the walk this afternoon bucked me up no end. The sight of our dog playing with my friends dog, jumping through the wheat etc, you can't help but smile. So thats my 1st positive. The ceiling is repaired -need to re decorate now but that can wait I'm in no hurry it's not gonna run away.
Stopped off at pub for a beer in a lovely beer garden which I didn't know was there even though I pass the pub often when I'm walking dog. So thats positive 2 -might even nip in for refreshment when I'm on my own -if it hot.
positive 3 - having a singing dancing sessions in living droom with daughter.
Mrs W-sounds like it been stressfull hopefully next week will be better.
PP and LL- sounds like you have reason to be fed up unfortunately these people rarely see the error of their ways and so its up to others to be thoughtful instead. It's not right but I think they prey on the fact that we'l do the right thing so they needent bother.
welcome dizzydoll- i struggle with the babysteps bit but i agree its the best approach and i too can be good for days and then the choc beckons and it all goes out the window. am just concentrating on keeping my nails nice, doing my peels, excercise when its not too humid and having a bit of me time when i can at mo. the healthy eating is on the back burner a bit but i have bought some ingredients to make some proper meals instead of resorting to eating rubbish when i realise ther's nothing to eat.
think everyone on here is right its about trying to feel better about yourself in small ways so that you find the strength to eat better and treat yourself better. i tend to comfort eat when things aren't going well but am no longer beating myself up about it. i'm sure if we all continue to support each other we'l be in a much better place at xmasxx

My afternoon was great! My team won 3-1:D and that's all three positives rolled into one for me today. Excellent start to the season.
Welcome dizzydoll. I was wondering how/why you'd managed to put on the weight so relatively quickly. That would give a clue to what the triggers were so you know what needs to change. Personally I've lost 3 stone in 10 months with Slimming World but it can be done faster with real dedication. If a group/paying suits you then I'd recommend it. Otherwise, it's really common sense in that you eat healthy meals, home cooked not processed (then you know what's in them) with at least a third of all your food as fruit and veg. Severely limit all the things we know aren't good for us like fats, sugars, floury things. I think we all need treats to look forward to. Mine is wine at weekends. I don't know your circumstances but I only shop/cook for me and my DH so it's easy to just not buy the things I love but shouldn't eat (like pasties and crisps:drool:). I do buy DH a few treats (biscuits, cheese) but I think of them as 'his' and don't think of raiding them. I am also lucky in that I eat out with friends quite frequently so will really enjoy the odd cheeseboard after a restaurant meal without the danger of munching my way through a whole slab.
Sorry to hear the frustrating families tales. I'm quite fortunate with mine as my brothers are distant (geographically) but we are on good terms. My DH has a HUGE family (he's one of 11) and they almost all live about 30 mins away. They all get on but we see some more than others but that's not surprising with such a wide age span. One particular SIL and BIL are very good friends and we holiday with them often.
I've not managed any pampering today either. I have a basic daily routine of cleansing and moisturising that I NEVER miss. I wear make up almost every day and (thanks to the thread) remember perfume too. I make sure my nails are manicured and polished (another more regular habit since the thread). I always moisturise after my bath/shower. I'm much happier with my clothes and I'm wearing far more colour. I think that's down to the weightloss as previously I just wore black from head to toe to look anonymous!:rotfl:
I'm off to bed now. We need a thunderstorm here to clear the air, I've been really headachey all day. Maybe it'll come during the night.0 -
Tru did you try the DVD yet?
No not yet. One of my guinea pigs has been ill, I knew she was getting worse because she wouldn't eat her favourite veg yesterday. I spent the afternoon fussing her and I'm glad I did, she died last nightWe'll bury her this morning.
I'll have today off I think, then try the DVD tomorrow.Bulletproof0 -

I've loved raw potatoes since I was little and I've never been ill from eating them.
I used to nick raw potato from my mum when I was a kid and she was "chipping" them
Sorry to hear about Baz Tru. Sending you lots of hugs my lovely xxxx
Not really been doing well at all with mindful eating. Again <sigh> So I don't want to diet as it makes me obsessive so why can't I stick the mindful eating? Why do I assume it's going to be hard or torture? It's not but it just requires me not to neccessarily eat everything I see. Why can't I just realise that there is always lots of delicious foods to eat so I don't have to hoover everything as soon as it's presented  I don't really want to resort to having post it notes literally stuck to every piece of furniture in the house but at the rate I am going that's what it's going to take <rollseyes>
Hugs to everyone that needs them and welcome to DizzydollI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Welcome Karen!
I'm by no means an expert with nails, but a good place to start woujld be a good hand cream and some cuticle oil- get into a routine of using that every day to start with, I tend to look for a hand cream that will absorb quickly so that I am not waiting for it to dry- no time for that! I'm using some Jergens naturals at the mo as it was a freebie a while ago and it's not bad, though the dove one has been good too. for oil, I tend to use sweet almond oil- works just as well I think most oils will do the job try rubbing some in just before bed.
For the flakiness, do you take any vitamins? there are a lot of nail and skin vitamin packs which might help? and some of the nail strenghtening varnishes- has anyone else had sucess with these??? I've not used them but might be worth a try? In your position I would concentrate on getting the nails looking and feeling healthy first then think about painting/shaping etc...
Hope that helps, sure someone with a bit more helpful advice will be along soon!
