£20 off £40 Ocado

  • It seems that little has been learnt since the Hoover Free Flights fiasco of the early 90s - exactly the same situation. (I bought a Hoover tumble dryer but the flights never materialised, just as I missed out on this £20 off because I thought I'd leave the shopping til the weekend!)
I will never use or trust Ocado now; this whole thing stinks. If I want to do a Waitrose online shop, I'll just do it through 'Waitrose Deliver' who don't offer any gimmicks but have free delivery.
But I do regularly use Sainsbury's online and have always found them to be excellent. I always receive everything I've ordered - all really fresh with long sell-by dates, nothing missing and no substitutions. I used to use Tesco but they kept sending the wrong stuff, other people's orders and weird substitutions of totally unrelated items (balsamic vinegar, madam? No, but here - have a tin of chick peas instead......)
Oh and I've also unsubscribed myself from Crowdity. What a shower.

Agreed, a big shower of sh***s indeed.

Thanks for the heads up on Sainburys, I'll be giving them a try instead.

I got what I ordered, when I asked for it and at the price it should have been from a very polite and helpful driver yesterday evening. Shame Ocado will lose out on a lot of business with this it seems from the reactions on here, as all that good will etc is being lost.
It aint over til I've done singing....

A lot of companies "underestimate" the demand for an offer and try to pull a fast one by pulling the offer. Hindsight is a great thing, but 30,000+ people on Crowdity - where they ever going to honor all of those? Either way, I wasn't going to hang around to find out and ordered it at 9am.

Delivery could be booked for 3 weeks later, so unless you are unavailable for the entire 3 weeks there wasn't really any reason to wait around, especially as we were informed about it on Monday or whenever it was so had time to plan, get funds in banks or whatever. Hanging around on any offer (especially one that is as good as this) is just asking for trouble IMO

I still disagree with you, I didnt get the email with the offer on until yesterday evening and it told me I had until the 30th, so when my wife got home from work yesterday we decided to leave it until this evening (the 24th), of course I knew this morning that it wasnt going to work.

Do you believe that companies should email customers telling them that they have until the 30th to do something and then pull it?
    edit
Just to add I did think they would stop giving codes out once it got to 2000 and i was around 1600th so didnt think I had a problem, but of course that wasnt counting on the greed of some people

oooo i sooo want to look at my order that i did about 7pm last night, (booked to be delivered tueday) but i'm resisting to itch to even log on incase i accidently edit it somehow:rotfl:

an innocent question though, how is crowdity to blame? why are people getting cross with them? surely they couldn't do anything about ocado backing out?

i shall hope that when they take the full amount from you, you have no money left and get charged!

Ok, ok, ok. I think we get the message. Please keep it friendly. I think people are jarred off enough without you putting the boot in. It's Friday and people have been at work all week. The last thing they want to do is log on this thread and read all this back biting. Well done to people who got their orders. There will be other offers with other supermarkets. Get over it. :money:

Dont worry once you log in it shows your order on the front page and you have to click to edit and to cancel from there. I went in and check and my orders still there at £24.01

If Ocado claim this would affect their service levels, then why not postpone the offer?

They could easily set it up so the people who still want to use their vouchers could do so in stages over a period of time, say the next month, with one week long windows to use them, and then email out individual codes to use during these weeks.

That would have kept everyone happy and also meant they could maintain their precious service levels.

I also hope that Ocado go through their new customer lists and cross check it with accounts registered at the same address and the cards that have been used to pay for the shopping.

It is clear to me that whilst many people did honestly subscribe to this offer, there are more than a few that have created new accounts for themselves and family members and abused this offer, which has added to the problem of over subscription.

same with people using cashback sites with the offer.

What could be done about this I don't know, I've not read the t+c's, but surely this is some kind of fraud/deception?

I am dissapointed that crowdity did not talk to ocado more during the offer to report back on the figures that where subscribing during the Wednesday it was running.

Very dissapointed as was waiting to get paid to use this offer to buy a weeks food, rather than stocking up on discounted wine like some people where reporting.

    Sorry agree with dirtysexymoney.

If people had not abused this offer (at least one post claimed to have signed up 4 family members for the offer) then the people who honestly wanted to use it would have had a much better chance of doing so.

And when your on a budget, £40 of shopping can last a long time, so saving £20 off it makes a massive difference, rather than stocking up on the "wine lake!"
