Grr. That's what I thought. So not only do I get the wretched messages, but I am supposed to pay to stop them. Rip-off.

Research the culrprit and email them with a request for the money back that you had to pay out to stop the sms messages.

    Hi all,
How are you? I hope you are fine :)
I just received my first spam message (after several thousands on my regular mobile) on my mobile Broadband modem. Funny, as this number is used nowhere, because it is just mobile broadband. This number must have been generated via a random generator.
Why do we still get hundreds of these spam messages I am wondering quite some time now, even if we report them? Easy to explain, the providers only attempt to block a specific number, but in the header of a message the origin can be covered and any wished number can be displayed. Therefore, the attempt to block will fail. Keep in mind, that with 9 digits (the first 07 not counted) there are 1 billion numbers available to be used. And these 1 billion number can be used with every provider. So you can see, that only legal actions (violation of the Protection from Herassment Act) will have any effect. For this a community needs to be formed, that takes these spamming and scamming muppets to court with a claim of at least 500 Pounds per sent spam message. Otherwise, there will be no end of these spammers/scammers.
Actually they also start to send out text messages from landline numbers as well as sending automated calls out.
    Best regards,
    MisterT1968

I was online and had a message 'to win this click here' so looked at the site. nothing dodgy, it was sent my one of my mates on facebook. It asked me to enter my mobile number to 'win'. I did and got a message back asking me to join. I text ok. got an email back to say they were a premium service so I read through, decided against it and text STOP as agreed. I have since learnt this took me 1 minute and 2 seconds to be accepted, so i was a member for a very short time. They charged me £4.21 for this! It might be a small amount, but taught me a lesson!
By the way, the company were Wixawin. The since emailed me to say as soon as you are accepted the last 4 emails at £1 a time are sent to you for the first weeks service! What robbing B*** !

so what is the general consensus to stopping these spam messages?
I have started receiving spam and the only people I have given my number to in the last week is
DVLA when completing an online SORN,
Asus for returning a faulty item
TNT for arranging the collection of the item

    I have had messages from

PaydayFirst (no number, just the name)
    KwikPayday (no number)
    SMSpayday (no number)
    +44 7909085275 (loan application invite)
    +44 7455980190
    +44 7435023277

They seem to insist on calling me Robert, and this is not my name!

Unless you are being charged I would just ignore them. For some spammers texting stop just shows that the number is in use so you will end up getting more.

A lot of them are set up on auto diallers so they will just spam a set of sequential numbers until they get a hit so don't automatically think it is down to DVLA, Asus or TNT.

I received my first ever spam message to my mobile 3 days ago and since then, I've received a total of 27 messages, all relating to payday loans. I've never applied for a payday loan and my number is only known to friends and family. The messages all say "Hi Matt" and this is not my name or the name of anyone I know. What's going on - is it completely random? I've just read Martin's article on the subject and checked out each of the companies' websites and sent 'STOP' or 'END' to each one, as suggested in the messages and will just have to wait and see. It's been an unsettling experience and I hope it's over.

BT Yahoo which provides the email accounts for anyone with a BT account have been having a problem for the last two months with unauthorised access to BT Yahoo email accounts and sending SPAM messages to the addresses saved in the web account.

If you are a BT Yahoo email account holder you may not be aware of this as BT have remained silent on the matter. If you go to the BT Care forum you will find that there is a thread about BT hacked account that has over 580 entries. If you report that your account has been hacked you will probably receive a PM to say that BT Yahoo and Yahoo are aware of the problem and are working to find a solution. What they have not done is to issue a general warning to all account holders.

Unfortunately the best advice that they have is to change your password and security details but this has little effect as the security problem is not your security but hacking of the email servers.

Perhaps BT Yahoo and Yahoo may be willing to comment?
