All those checks are done...
something here is playing funny !!!!!!s and is laughing at us...
You think its worth taking it to the local PC shop (no fix no fee) and asking them to put it in one of their PCs so i can retrieve it?0 -
Try this. Right-click My Computer - Manage - Disk Management. Does the disk show there? If so, right-click it in the lower section of that window and click Mark Partition as Active (if that's not greyed-out).
If no joy, you could try running Knoppix Live from your CD drive and using that to retrieve files from the drive.0 -
what was ur questionKelloggs wrote:it always happens, they know the answer to everything else apart from the answer you need...
in relation to - aka which post
yep I agreed get a pc shop to fit the disk internally ( to the pc ) that way you have a 160GB(+) disk as back up or storage - goodnightRich people save then spend.
Poor people spend then save what's left.0 -

Are you confident to take the side off the PC?
If so take the IDE cable and power supply off the CD/DVD drive. Make sure the swapped drive is set as a Master (as above) and plug the cables into the drive.
When you start the machine go into the BIOS and get it to find the hard drives automatically.
Now when you start the PC it will recognise the Swap as
Drag'n'Drop.
Unless .............. your old PC was XP set as NTFS and your new one isn't? In which case you'll need to swap them round so that your old PC is the C: drive and then go through adding hardware.0 -
Try a different USB port.
See 53.
Forget the IDE to USB cable and attach it as a Slave drive to your existing IDE cable inside the computer.0
