Post the make and model number of the drive - it should say on the label on top of it.Kelloggs wrote:As for the Master/Slave thing, i have realised what you meant... its not that part i use tho...i use the longer connection to the side of it...is this the SATA or sumthing...? Its the one to the left ... its shown on the left in that picture too...
Your picture link says not found. Post your link again in full - don't edit it with '...' in, the MSE forum does that to shorten long links.
You need to use both. The block of pins to the left is for the IDE cable, the middle block is Master/Slave/CS jumper settings and the block on the right are power connectors. IDE cable, jumper and power must all be connected.0

Found it - you must mean this photo --> http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf-JAVA/Doc/images/c00378006.jpg. Yes, that's the little plastic jumper I'm talking about.
MAXTOR 6L200P0 - http://maxtor.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/maxtor.cfg/php/enduser/olh_adp.php?p_faqid=2455 shows jumper settings. There should also be a diagram on the label. You want the Master setting.0
