Packed lunch getting nicked
Comments
-
It's been a long time since my children took a packed meal to school. In those days they kept it in their bag until lunch-time, and then tended to share with all the other kids who were sitting at the 'packed lunch' table.
Of course that was before the horrors of food allergies [eg. peanuts] became common, and there was a dinner lady keeping an eye on what the children swapped.
Times have changed since then, so in an idle moment I tried googling the obvious solution to the OP's problem - but I could not find a lockable lunch-box suitable for children, anywhere!
So unless I've missed something, it looks like there's a gap in the market, folks. Shall I get out my sketch pad and give Duncan Ballantyne a ring?
It's a good idea. After our incident, I used to put ds's lunch into a carrier bag and tie the handles and then put that in the lunch box. I figured little thieves wouldn't have time to break into it but ds could at the lunch table.0 -
Not very MSE, but how about something similar to this in the lunchbox?

It could always be decorated cheaply with stickers.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
Oh, I had an idea!
What about putting a little bell (or something else equally noisy) on the lunchbox next to the fastening. That way, when the child with the sticky mitts tries to open the lunchbox, it will make a distinct sound which will alert someone to what is happening.February wins: Theatre tickets0
