latest thing to turn up in our house was a piece of cake carefully wrapped in clingfilm and left by the back door to take to work monday morning
it disappeared on monday to turn up in roughly the same spot yesterday,as fresh as monday too, but we've let the birds have it (strangely its not been eaten yet but nearly all the seeds have)
all sorts of small objects disappear some we dont even know about until we cant find them
we have a door downstairs that will shut on its self if you open it,but it often opens itself when you least expect it
if we are downstairs someones upstairs and vica versa
these things come and go and there may be months when nothing happens
we aren't bothered because as already said and my mother said to me its only the living that can hurt you0 -

This is known as a Cut-and-Come-Again cake.
They are hard to get right (particularly the baking time - you have to literally time it to the second) but once baked successfully you can use them for up to 13 months.
PM me if you'd like the recipe. I can also help sourcing fairy flour.0 -
as you can prob guess from my name and avatar, i have dogs.
every so often when they are in my lounge all 3 will look at 'something' (as far as i can see there is nothing there) on the floor/wall then follow it around the room as as if its moving lol
iv also had them stare at a certain spot in the room and growl, kinda freaks me out!

My parents house is allegedly haunted. It's very old, and across the road from a church. The ground floor is business premises and lots of staff members have 'seen' a young girl in old-fashioned clothes, peeping at them from around corners or just disappearing from the edge of their view. I can't say I've ever seen anything there but on the night we moved in, mum and I were sleeping on matresses in the main bedroom with the door shut, and we both distinctly heard *someone* climb the stairs and knock loudly on the bedroom door. There was nobody there ... It was probably us just getting used to the different noises in a new place, but it was odd. Out pets would never go up onto that floor either.
However, they did some fairly major building work a few years back and that seemed to stop the noises and 'sightings'. People still insist the place is haunted though.0 -
Just an afterthought.
Regularly we hear a loud cracking noise in our downstairs area. No ghosts.
We have three 2 litre bottles of fizzy pop in a kitchen cupboard (my choice, wife's choice, and grandsons choice re flavours) and when one is picked up and poured, the bottle distorts under your grip because of the weight. Placed back in the cupboard, they eventually restore to their original shape because of gas pressure. The crack from the kitchen can be heard anywhere on the ground floor. Spooky!
Yes, but the big unanswered question is why don't you pop the bottles back into shape before you put the top back on and put them away ????0 -

Obviously you know more than i do, suffice to say on going to work this morning the cake is still untouched (filled with fruit too) i saw a starling go near it and it literally jumped backwards so the cake is obviously spook cake
if i remember when i finish work tonight i will try and remember to take my camera home and show the picture of the uneaten cake.
Obviously i also hope there arent lots of blue tits, starlings and blackbirds laying on their backs prosed under the bird table, feet up deaded:eek:0 -
Thank you very much
Somehow stumbled across this thread because I was searching about a hairline crack in my ceiling. I'm normally quite a rational sort of guy but I think tonight I may be sleeping with light on.0 -
Our current house is over 130 years old. Shortly after moving in we heard something akin to the OP's dog scratching sound. A rat had somehow become trapped under the floor boards while the house was empty. It gnawed through an electric cable, and that was the end of one problem, immediate start of another.
We've lived in five very old houses, including one on a site mentioned in the Domesday Book. Old houses can create a symphony of amazing noises.0
