Oh maybe the rat dropped the tray it was eating its lunch off ? Goddsake if it was so simple the OP would not have posted it !
I didnt believe in ghosts/afterlife/hauntings/mediums, any of that stuff. Until my daughter moved into a rented house that had some in it. She and her 4 kids ended up sleeping in one room with the light on.
It wasnt funny and it wasnt nice.
We got a medium in; she told us a (horrible) story; we checked with the local newspaper archives and mining history museum; and it all checked out. She moved. LOL
If you feel like it, OP- if it was pipes you'd get a plumber - if it's spirits then get a medium. Hope it quietens down for you:)

Most medieval villages and small towns all had parish churches. Property boundaries were poorly defined in these times but essentially families wanted their loved ones buried in hallow grounds. The church just allowed this to happen and didn't actually cotton to charging for it till some time in the mid 1800's. On that basis church burial yards filled up and 'spread out' from the church they became seriously overcrowded.

The Burial Act of 1852 was introduced to try and fix this along with a little later the cremation acts as they simply ran out of space to bury the dead in the big cities of the time. All the info is on google if one cares to look.

The best bit which I am saving for last is that if your house is within 500 metres of an old church it is very possible it covers what was part of the medieval and or Victorian burial grounds. Much land reclamation went on to secure ground for building in interim years. If graves were ancient (there is a statutory time limit on age contained in the Acts) then they were simply built over......

But I think you'll find most of the bodies were exhumed first by doctors at the time and used in the advancement of medicine.

Without those courageous grave-robbers we would still have a life-expectancy of about 48.

The living are a hell of a lot scarier than the dead, believe me. And can do you a lot more harm.

Hi, I had the same noises. The previous owner said it was some thing to do with a native American burial ground or something. I just got use to the noises but the TV constantly on static was annoying for everyone apart from my daughter.

Noooo! You clearly are NOT "into this". What right do you think you have to tell spirits to move. This is their home. It's like evicting a tenant who has a valid Fixed Term AST! That is quite rightly a criminal offence, well so should evicting/harassing ghosts.

After all, ghosts were people too.

Sorry had to correct you there....

Our previous house (sold and moved out of last month) was an old tudor house that was taken down and rebuilt with additions on a new site in the 1930s. When we purchased it in 2007 the then owner said he believed it was haunted as light bulbs kept popping out of the large (3 foot diameter) light fitting in the vaulted ceilinged living room. We weren't worried about this and expected that we may see something similar, but throughout our three and a half years in the house, during which time we undid all the 1980s style 'modernisation/renovations' carried out by previous owners, we experienced nothing of the kind.

Within two weeks of selling OH had to return to the property and one of the first things the new owners said was that several light bulbs had popped out of the same light fitting (which we left behind at their request) and that one had 'exploded' when it hit an armchair. We had said nothing to them concerning the previous owners comments during the sales process.

OH firmly believes that the house/spirits were happy during our ownership of the property as we were sympathetic in our restorations, but that as the new owners intend to 'modernise' it again, they are once again making their presence felt!

My three year old niece (at the time) was sitting on the loo in my Mums OAP bungalow with the door open, she then shouted "Nana, have you got a Mr Nobody too"? My Mum said "no why", little one said "cos he's just walked across the hall and gone into the bedroom".
    My Mum was literally terrified.
