Ghosts

We don't think we have ghosts and we defiantly don't believe in ghosts. But our very average house does emanate unexplained noises. They vary, sometimes it goes for months and you kind of forget about it. Sometimes they seem to come in batch's, the spookiest is, the sound of scratching, the kind a dog makes when he uses his back legs, the sound is crystal clear and seems to emanate from about 6 inches behind your shoulder. Other time it is like a tin tray is dropped from height, this is always in the kitchen. And yet again from the kitchen is the sound of what seems to be a shoe heel being hammered on the kitchen floor. This has happened during the day, night, weeks and months go by with no noise, and then it seems to come in batch's. We are so used to it when we hear a unexplained noise we look at each other and say "poltergeist"
We have no idea what these noises are, we have heard the tin tray noise and gone straight in to the kitchen and nothing, no cold spots no funny lights, no tin tray on the floor, and no way of explaining the noise.
We are hoping to sell it in a bit, dunno if we should mention it, people might think we are mad, perhaps dear reader your thinking the same.........

You have to think about what else might be happening when the noise occurs. We have a noise in one house when the pipes expand near the tank when they are heated. It sounds like someone is upstairs and a couple of visitors have commented "is there someone upstairs?!" way. Because everything is automated, it happens without direct input from a person.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

if only there was someone you could call...
  • Well, I wouldn't mention it to potential buyers if you want to sell the place!! At least not unless one of them turns up wearing a t-shirt that says "ghost watcher" emblazoned across the front.

It would certainly put me off a place.

    Don't mention it.

We had spirits in a house once - there was no other explanation at all. But I didn't tell prospective buyers.

No we don't have a tin tray, and as stated we don't believe in ghosts, to be honest we are more puzzled than anything else, as we cant think of a rational explanation.......who we gonna call...

    Thse are classic ghost symptoms.

Many people, like you, are sceptical, but that does not mean ghosts don't exist.

The best thing you can do is accept their presence and learn to live with them.

The noises you describe are attention-seeking, and the fact that the 'tin tray' comes from the kitchen indicates hunger. Have you left food out for them? You may well find the food vanishes overnight and the noises the foloowing day will be either reduced or more soothing - the sound of a gentle wind blowing or even soft music. This is their way of thanking you.
