I wonder actually if this is a small gesture towards the business sellers who are quite vocal on the ebay boards about 'private' sellers being given all the perks. The pinks on the ebay community boards have been hinting for ages that some benefit would eventually be given to properly registered business sellers.

Obviously I think many of us business sellers had rather hoped that would mean a proper benefit to us, but being ebay they have addressed it by sort of penalising private sellers...which is probably better for them.

Personalyl I just wish they would use some of their vast millions to iron out some of the more annoying glitches.

I only sell a few items, I really feel sorry for the big sellers, their fees will be massive, does anyone get the feeling that
cameron might be trying something, I wouldn't be suprised.

Really, how strange. Personally speaking until Autumn last year a great many of my sales came from a site other than ebay, if people do just want to sell on ebid though and ignore the money to be made on ebay, then that is up to them.
Was that other site another one that charges a fortune to do most of the work for you?

This is supposed to be a money saving site. If people can put in a little effort and get the same level of sales with a fraction of the cost why are you so against it? Okay, you're unwilling/unable to adapt to the site but your posts do make it seem that you have more of an axe to grind than just your inability to sell there.

There's certainly been mixed signals for some time around private sellers, pretty much since business and private sellers were set up.

It's interesting that the new increase only bothers regular private sellers and then not that many of them, I suspect most will wear it and a few will complain and try and sell elsewhere. Most private sellers won't notice a difference, if you sell on a car boot sale you pay a flat fee, I'd guess that if you worked it out as a percentage it would be favourable to Ebay with just a tiny percentage of their customers.

As for Ebid it has never looked attractive to me as a seller, the only place it gets mentioned is on disgruntled Ebay seller forums. I've never had a customer ask why I don't use Ebid, most people don't even know it exists, you can't say that that is because it is new, it isn't it's actually older than the Ebay UK site. It wouldn't surprise me if Ebay actually supported Ebid, it suits them to have it trundling along.

  • A more realistic alternative to eBay is CQOut, they actually seen to be doing rather well!

Does anyone agree with me that when Ebay increases their fee's in July, they will see a lot of accounts closed.

They're certainly the UK's biggest marketplace for counterfeit items.

The ebid market though is not picking up any of the slack at all, in fact the forums now are much more negative than they were when I first joined. Then everyone was positive and saw ebid as a bright new thing. Now the forums are full of doom and gloom, some of the bigger UK sellers that used to be there to offer encouragement have given up and some sellers I have bought from in the past have just crept back to ebay.

If there has been any growth in ebid then it is overseas, just go look at the forums, the posters now are rarely in the UK. I think th eebid market is overseas and in places where ebay does not have such a hold.

well i agree with you on one point there is growth from over seas but i dont base that on who happens to pop into a forum or not, my sales have doubled abroad mainly to germany japan and thailand UK sales are the same as they were last year, many ebidders i talk to have seen a increase in there UK market, soolin were your argument falls apart is your negative about every thing on ebid yet you still trade there, for years you have been negative yet you are unable to 1) leave or 2) do some thing about your so called lack of sales, witch says to me you have a hidden agenda, any normal person soolin would say " no i did not have much luck there" but not you soolin every thread about ebid you go into a all out attack ! drumming up every concivable negative remark you can think off, just doesent ring true soolin i find it hard to belive anything you say about ebid.

now for any one in two minds as to give ebid a go, this is a unbiased view, you can list for free if you take out the one off fee subscription, add ons like a gallery photo %2 FVF if you dont want to subscribe for the one off fee they offer a platinum seller witch means you can list but you will have to pay a small fee or fees this option is good for sellers who wish to test the water before fully committing, all the above can be seen and checked out on the site before you do anything, will you sell on ebid,? i dont know i dont like others give a positive or negative remark on this you will have to find out for yourself, its your goods and your selling technics that make sales! what i will say though is i have seen many sellers come and go and from my personal point of view if you list on countless sites the same products your not offering a incentive for anyone to join you on your latest site, spreading yourself to thin to operate in the same market with the same buyers really does not work,
