Ordered a food processor from Amazon and paid £7.20 postage to have it priority expedited. The estimated delivery date was today. I tracked the parcel this morning to find out that it had been loaded for delivery at 0832 this morning. It still says this on the Amazon tracking details but when I tracked on the HDNL website it says it was returned to the depot at 1806 this evening. I waited in all day and didn't leave the house for a minute. I spent quite a while reading this thread while I was waiting so I feared the worse!
I have complained to Amazon as it is ultimately their responsibility but I will call HDNL on Monday morning, not that I expect to get a decent response.
....oh and hello all, this is my first post
what exactly is your complaint?
it was estimated for today
it didnt make it0 -
Either the delivery driver couldn't find your address or he/she was running late and so decided to do a phantom delivery0

Well firstly there were three postage options with Amazon, the first being free postage, the second at approx £5 being 1st class recorded and the third (which I chose) being £7.20 for expedited.
I ordered the item on Thursday night and thought that if they posted it the following day then it should arrive by Saturday even if I used 1st class recorded but I decided to pay the extra couple of pounds just to make sure.
The second point being that the tracking information provided to me by Amazon stated that my purchase was 'out for delivery' at 0830 this morning.
All that said, I have just received an email from Amazon telling me they will be refunding my postage in full and will be investigating why it was not delivered when it should have been. HDNL have told Amazon that they have attempted to deliver it today (which they definitely haven't) and that a calling card should be through the door (which it wasn't).0 -

out for delivery on a non guaranteed service doesnt mean it will be delivered
services like HDNL use small owner/driver outfits
so they get X packets and X time
all this talk of investigation is a smoke screen
Amazon use the likes of HDNL as it is cheap and works most of the time

Oh yes, I'm under no illusion that there will be an investigation of any kind but the fact that they said they tried to deliver when they categorically did not is the frustrating thing. People are usually pretty understanding if they get the truth.
Anyway I got the postage refunded in full which is probably the best I could hope for. Hopefully I'll get the delivery tomorrow.
Oh and in future I'll pay less postage to get a better service from Royal Mail!0 -
Ordered ipad2 on Friday from Tesco Direct, due for delivery Saturday.
Never came, checked account on Sunday morning and said it was delivered.
Called Tesco who told me had been delivered at 8.20pm Saturday evening - not to us it wasn't.
Asked who had signed for it (as my invoice from Tesco specifically said it would need an adult signature) and there was no signature showing on the system.
Not sure where I stand now, got the distinct impression from Tesco customer services that they thought I was lying and after a free ipad2.
Tesco called me again today and the courier company need to interview the driver, who is presumably going to say they delivered it at 8.20pm Saturday evening - what happens then, it's my word against the driver?0 -
Sorry for possibly bumping an old HDNL thread, but after doing a google search I was redirected here (Hello by the way)
I ordered a new computer game (MW3 to be precise) from Amazon to be delivered yesterday by none other than dun dun duuuuuuuh.... HDNL, usually I have no problem with Amazon and they always arrive on said date, anyway having been to work I expected to come home to a delivery, alas no.
I check HDNL's crappy tracking service and I get the following..
08/11/2011 06:07:00 STOCKTON DEPOT The parcel has been received into depot
08/11/2011 07:17:00 STOCKTON VAN The parcel has been loaded on to the drivers van
08/11/2011 13:45:00 CUSTOMER The parcel has been delivered The parcel has been posted at the property
There was no parcel in my house, nothing at any of the neighbours, no calling card, I even did a scout of the front and back gardem to see if the numbskull had left it out in the elements, but no, nada.
Anyway, I contact Amazon who in turn get in touch with HDNL and they say " We have spoken to our delivery driver, who says he posted the parcel at the given address, the GPS confirms this" Errr no, actually, the GPS confirms that they were in my STREET, not that they posted the parcel, I don't really know were to go from here.
Very annoyed right now, hoping I can get a refund from Amazon or I'm going to be £40 out of pocket
Sorry for the rant but it did make me feel a little bit better!0 -
Another example, pattern seems to be the same.
Had a £400 phone from Amazon due to be delivered yesterday. I was at home all day, checking the tracking page, 4pm it suddenly says 'Delivered at 3:16pm'.
It certainly was not! I was in the house all day, and even had another delivery logged at 3:13pm from HDNL themselves (though it was via their domestic service on behalf of DHL, which I've since found out has a different depot/driver).
HDNL are claiming it was left in 'secure location at rear of property', then changed to 'side of property' and Amazon's web page says HDNL left it in (non-existent) 'porch'. They can't explain how a second delivery driver managed to turn up within 3 minutes of the first one, yet didn't manage to get to the door, or leave a card explaining they'd been or where they say they had left it.
Luckily Amazon have been first class in chasing it up and are sending me a replacement by express delivery, which hopefully means Royal Mail are delivering it.0 -
After reading stugib's post I'd also like to commend Amazon and their customer service, they have been top notch and have already sent out another copy of the game to me via express delivery.
But guess who's delivering it...HDNL
Fingers crossed :rotfl:0 -
My problem with HDNL.
I had ordered some books from Amazon, which were wrapped in one of those cardboard wrappers they use. I left a note asking for any deliveries to be left with my next door neighbour if I was not in (she never goes out). The day the parcel was delivered was one of those days when it had been raining cats & dogs all day (and all the previous night). The HDNL driver threw the parcel over my 6ft tall back gate (which is locked) onto the middle of patio (at least 8 feet from the gate) where it sat, in a puddle, until I arrived home from work. Of course by then the parcel was completely waterlogged and the books were ruined. Had the parcel contained anything other than books the item would almost certainly have been damaged by the parcel being thrown as well.
Amazon replaced the books, excellent customer service from Amazon, as always.
Just a shame they keep using HDNL as it makes me reluctant to order anything from them that isn't going to fit through my letterbox.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07
