I had a parcel that was sent from New look about a week ago - when it didn't come I've tracked it on the website and apparently it's been delivered and left in a safe place round the back of the house. No card though and no sign of the parcel in any of the usual places!
My main problem is all the numbers on HDNL website you need the reference number from the card - but I don't have a card!! Does anyone know any other contact numbers that I can call to find out where my parcel is??
  • Just had problems with them too. Had a package apparantly "left outside my door" on tuesday afternoon- in the rain!! I had a message stating it was left in a safe place and that a calling card was left. When arriving home at 7pm there was no card so I knocked on neighbours door and they had no parcel(as they usually leave it there) I had to email the company my parcel was from and they contacted driver to see where he left it... he claims he left it outside front door at 2.37pm!!!! No sign. Anyway After numerous emails, the company agree to re-send or refund.. today I got a card dated 25/8/11 with instuctions to call driver who basically insisted on comming round to talk to me about it and was quite intimidating- stating it was a safe place and implying its not possible to go missing!!! Ive just complained to yodel about this but feel so depressed over the whole thing. Its really put me off shopping online. I will now look into the couriers delivering before ordering anything :(

I found this number as the other main one was cutting me off 01707287679. He was very nice.

  • luciesmummy: If you haven't nominated a safe place, they've no right to just dump it outside your house. The driver has no right to insist on coming to your house, and his behaviour is actually harrassment. I can't believe he did that! File a complaint with his manager, and your local police... I can't see how a delivery drive could possibly have the right to come to your home outside the course of business unless s/he also happens to be a personal friend.
  • I was thinking of police too.. He was phoned by a member of management to leave me alone but Im still a bit worried. He did wrong and he knows it. I see they have an obligation to deliver and timescales but surely this causes more problems with lost/broken parcels than just doing the right thing and either taking them away for re delivery or leaving with a neighbour? Never again!!!! Im going to check out every courier company used before I order from anyone online now :(

He won't have claimed to have left it there, he will have left it there and the HHT they use will timestamp and geocode it so his management will be able to see where it was left within a few metres.Edited to add it sounds like its been stolen and the driver is suspicious of fraud on your part.Thats part of their job too.

Do you mean the card said the driver wanted to come and talk to you or that you called the number and he said this?If its just the card then maybe you are reading more into it than is actually there, its difficult to read intent from written words sometimes.
If you don't want the driver to come again, let his depot know.I am sure they will respect this but it might cause problems with future deliveries.

If its a non proof of delivery then delivery drivers are generally expected to find somewhere else to leave it, whether that be a neighbour, shed, wherever.

Talk about over reacting to the post mentioning harrassment and calling the police though, what a drama queen.

Yet again I had another unattempted delivery from Amazon for a Saturday, arrived at the HDNL Wembley depot around 4 am on Saturday and is shown as to be delivered by today, and they did not even bother to put it on the van. This frequently happens with them for Saturday deliveries and as this is a bank holiday weekend, I won't see the item until Tuesday. I wish you could choose your courier with Amazon.

He came back two days later and left a card with his mobile number on asking me to call him, so I called and he said he would come round to talk about it. I phoned the company as he was quite insistant and a little intimidating. I have no problem with him leaving it in a safe place I just dont think outside in the rain all afternoon qualifies as that. For future deliveries I will ensure they go to my mums address and that it states at every opportunity to leave with neighbour if not in. I do a hell of a lot of shopping online and this is the first time Ive had any problems. I suppose I just have to put it down to experience.
