I've had a parcel stuck at the Gatwick depot since the 15th , it was dispatched on the 6th. I've phoned to ask if i can collect it but have been told no they are not allowed into the warehouse to collect parcels for collection!

I understand that they have a big backlog due to weather but surely if the customer is willing to come and collect and save them the job of delivering it is barmy to say no?

You'd think so but places like this have limited depot staff and your parcel would have to be found amongst thousands of others, could easily take an hour to find just 1.If they let you then they'd have to let hundreds more and there isn't the manpower there to do it.
  • I've never had a problem with HDNL the lady that comes to me is brilliant she even delivered a parcel to us at 8:30pm on a Sunday night!! She was telling me last week that they had over 20,000 parcels stuck in Scotland because of the bad weather I could tell that she was really stressed out.

DHL the same they are always fantastic with us the driver is a bit grumpy but my parcels always come and they are never damaged.

I was talking to our poor postman today his feet were wet through the poor thing he was saying that he had a lot of parcels to deliver and Royal Mail are telling them to only take what they think they can manage. Fair enough in this weather we don't want to be out in it ourselves.

    Steph xx
  • Many thanks to wyits who posted the email addresses, one lady got back to me instantly (Elaine) and has assured me I will have it today after giving me a more detailed account of what actually happened to my parcel yesterday.

They SAID that there was no access to the house due to ice. Impossible as we cleared it all on our driveway and we live off a main road which is council gritted daily... but never mind! Fingers crossed it arrives today..

I got a parcel from these guys yesterday. Card on floor when I got in - parcel in back yard, thrown over wall. Strange as I hadn't ordered anything.

Name on card - not mine. Check parcel. Oh it's for a house down the street. Nice eh? Knocked on his door and not in and had no knock on mine later on so wondering if they even bothered putting a card through his door.

Still, as long as I can catch him, least they will get their parcel I suppose!
  • I have had nothing but trouble with HDNL. They can't deliver to the correct address most of the time, then when they get to the correct place, they put a card through the door even when I'm in. They also refuse to leave a "sign for" parcel with neighbours and will not permit me to collect from the depot. On some of my deliveries they have even given me the wrong day for delivery.

I have never had any problems with any other delivery company, be it Royal Mail, DHL, FedEx etc...only ever with this company to the point that I will now refuse to shop with a company if I know they use HDNL. I don't understand why companies still use them. They are the WORST delivery company ever.

  • Ahhh HDNL are driving me insane Amazon have said the estimated date is today (23rd)... no parcel. I am bored of waiting in all day listening out for the door. With the new year coming up I am guessing they wont even bother to deliver up until Tuesday. I am having second thought about HDNL being the courier to my parcels again.

    HDNL are useless........

I just had a really bad experience with them.
I can only come up with 1 reason why company uses them. Cost.
