Quite possibly and often price wise there isn't a lot in it as you correctly originally said. It comes down to individual preference. Staying onsite you never really get away from the uniqueness (both positive and negative) that is the world of Disney. It is nice (for us anyway) to stay off site and retreat to a home from home type envorinment, eat when you want, have a dip in your own pool, have a BBQ etc etc. Not everyone will want that however and may find it too quiet and away from teh action
Main point I was making so poeple aren't mislead, is the one you made that Disney tickets are somehow included if you stay onsite - they aren't!0 -

I've stayed onsite once and I don't think we would do it again. I would but MrM found it all a little claustrophobic and the fact that all roads lead to Disney is a bit Stepford Wives for him. The free parking at Disney parks and the extra magic hours are a great bonus though.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

I'm wanting to go next year but im tied to 8th April and prices sky high, we are staying on Disney but if anyone finds any info on discounted flights or any cheap packages that would help. so far I've got £4400 with Virgin for 2 adults and 1 child. Thanks x0

Easter is probably the most expensive (and busiest)time apart from Christmas so if you find a price you are comfortable with i would book it0

Floss-76 the price you got lloks good for the time of year. After reading most of these posts I got back in the mood and have since booked the week before easter the 15th of March. This is a great time as i have booke for 3 weeks for 6 of us in a Villa with pool for £5300 with Virgin. However I didn't take the "free" car option as that saved £800 and you can book the same 7 seater for £600 ish direct. Hope to see you all we should meet up and send Martin a picture of us all who have saved by using his wondeful site.:beer:0

We must have got a deal at the time we booked then because ours were included in the price.0 -

Hmm - a deal indeed that would be. They give 14 days for 7 on an ultimate ticket usually (which anyone get get as well not just onsite) but "free" Disney rickets I have never heard of
Disney are one of the most price pretoectionsist comapnies there is and so serious discounts on entrance tickets are pretty much unheard of.
Obviously you may have been quoted a package price which may have included tickets within total price of your agent booked holiday which is a different thing altogether......0 -

Sorry to crash you post but I would be interested in more information with regards to who you booked with. I am looking to go to Florida again next August. Want Virgin flights as went with BA last time and the service was shocking. Have looked at package with Virgin with hotel in buena vista and, with park tickets, costs 5.5k. About 1k more than I'd hoped. Would consider villa if cheaper which is what we did last time. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
You will save a ton of money by booking everything DIY. You just need to make sure that your holiday insurance covers DIY.
If you want to stay on site, look at complete orlando and charter travel, plus Walt Disney travel uk. Don't forget quidco for wdwt.
For flights you need to think about are you prepared to go indirect, this is where you will save. If you have little kids best going direct. You have a choice of BA or VA, plus Thomsons and Thomas cook. Sometimes packages do work out cheaper.
Look for the free dining plan if staying onsite. This is currently being offered for 2013. You have to buy park tickets, but you get your food for free. You get 1 sit down meal per day, 1 snack credit and 1 counter service, per day per person and can use them in any combination you want. For example 1 day you can have 2 sit down meals if you want and not have one another day. We have been on the dining plan now three times. You book your reservations in advance.
Car hire is cheaper to book separately, even if you book a package.
Compare like for like when looking at prices. Avoid I drive, it's not very nice in the middle part and too far away from the parks especially at busy times. The bottom of Idrive near sea world is nice. I have stayed all over, but prefer onsite with the free dining plan. If offsite don't forget to factor in the cost of food and you will see what a bargin the dining plan is.
If you stay at old key west or Saratoga springs, or a delux you get the sit down plan. If you stay at a moderate you get he counter service plan, and anything lower, to don't get it.
Look at websites called wdwinfo and the dibb.
Have fun planning.0 -
As above poster says, booking all individual parts is cheaper. Our family of 5 went Dec 11 just after xmas until 6th jan 12 for 10 nights.
I checked skyscanner every day for weeks and it is amazing how the flight prices change on a daily basis.some days they were 2k p/p lol, I booked in May 11 and paid £630 p/p (the cheapest I ever saw them was at £600) I find if you can be flexible by the odd day or so you can get better savings on flights.
Booked a Villa via an ad on ebay, fantastic 25 mins from Disney, universal etc stayed just off j55 off the I 4, worked out £45 per night for a villa that sleeps 8, pool heated and games room in the garage.
Hired a car from Alamo which worked out at £35 per day.
Total worked out around 4k for 5 of us, which was the sames I paid the previous year for 4 of us booking a package holiday.
Of course you have to add on park tickets, food, petrol etc.0 -
Hi I am currently looking at booking for May 2013, for 2 adults and 2 children (Although 1 is over 12, so classed as adults).=£2360
I have seen flights for £590 each with Thomsons, and am currently looking at villa's which range from £400- £450 pw... =£900
Car hire direct from Sandford airport £30per day = £420
So far totalling £3680...
Not bad i don't think considering most agents have quoted £4600 approx for the same thing...0
