Thanks for the advice, I'm just thinking now maybe it'd be better to pay a bit more for the actual holiday and not have to pay shuttles etc.

    Just having another look now

Hire cars are all automatic, you soon get to grips with driving there.

First time i went, i was on my own with 3 kids, collected the car at the airport and all 3 kids promptly fell asleep whilst i was trying to find the villa ! I found that after the first few hours, you just adapt to it. The roads are much bigger and no roundabouts to worry about !

There doesn't seem to be the mad rush to get to places that there is here, the parks are really easy to get to, parking is a doddle. The main problem for us was finding the car in the car park when we were coming back ! We learned eventually and tied a piece of ribbon to the aerial so we could find it !

I can't drive so can't comment personally on how easy it is but MrM finds it easier than here. I would say though that the traffic in October 2011 within the Lake Bueane Vista area had got a lot heavier than previous visits.

A good tip to remember where your car is parked at the parks is to take a photo of the row marker ie I remember one being called Harvest at EPCOT. There all clearly numbered at the end of the row so always head down the banks of the cars towards the tram cars.

Hi, we are hoping to go to Florida next year...we have had a couple of quotes for flights and accomodation we have been quoted between 7-8k. Would it be cheaper to stay in a Villa with car hire etc? I have been before but it was 8 years ago so it has changed so much and so has the price :) any advice would be greatly appreciated many thanks

    I booked today! :j

I ended up booking the Quality Inn on International Drive, I needed to keep the cost down and wanted to be central.

Maybe when I've been once I will book again for a villa and think about driving :D

i just want to point out that if you stay in i drive make sure you check your sheets because they don't always change the sheets. alot of people only stop for a few days and alot of the hotels have a bad habit of only changing the sheets weekly instead of changing after a person has left.

also if you haven't been to disney before i recommend you stay 1 week in disney (for the extra hours) and 1 week on i drive ( for bush garderns , universal studios)

    hello Daisy

You haven't indicated the dates you are looking at, but that aside, the figure you have quoted seems excessively high if it is just covering flights and accommodation. I have recently booked flights/car/villa (Gatwick to Orlando with Virgin) for 4 adults and 2 children (flying out Feb 2013) and have change out of 4k !

I would be happy to provide more information if you wish.

    regards

    Hi Al,

Sorry to crash you post but I would be interested in more information with regards to who you booked with. I am looking to go to Florida again next August. Want Virgin flights as went with BA last time and the service was shocking. Have looked at package with Virgin with hotel in buena vista and, with park tickets, costs 5.5k. About 1k more than I'd hoped. Would consider villa if cheaper which is what we did last time. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Hi Al,

The dates we were looking at were towards the end of May 2013 but we have had to have a shuffle about with the dates and we are now looking at April half term or it would have to be the end of July. We have been given a quote of 5,820 thats for car hire/Villa/Virgin flights for May so I am expecting allot more now for April or July.

Park tickets aren't included unless you get a special offer. They form part of the price of your holiday! The inclusive dining plans offered good value when these are offered and the extra magic hours can be good.
Personally I like to get away from Disney when not doing the parks and have your own space and do some non Diseny stuff. Some of the villa communities are pretty close so time wise not a huge amount in it probably

But most people have a car anyway. when we stay at Disney Resorts we still manage to get away to do other stuff either in the evenings or if we decide to have a day out somewhere else. You are not really tied to Disney just because you stay in a resort hotel.
